However, with this said, that is where it stopped. I can't get the codes to work on my unit, and I am sure I am doing something wrong. The instructions need to be "boosted" for clarity purposes. But as I stated earlier, it could be me.

Thanks do it on a PC if you have access to one.

Okay - figured it out on the iMac. My work computer is severely hampered by IT and I could not get the Driver. On the iMac one must log on as Administrator and then the instructions work.

Wowzers! Did anyone have a HARD time stuffing everything into the tiny space and getting that plastic cover on?? Everything else took 5 minutes while I just couldn't stuff the wiring, module and plugs in! That last bit took me around 15 minutes!

I paid $370 total 2 years ago, including the 5% discount - you can try the discount code on p. 2 of this thread, who knows if it still works.

I consider this a required accessory for the convertible.

One thing it took me a long time to figure out: if I allow ECO mode to shut off the car, then the SmartTop won't operate. I normally have ECO off (dynamic on) so this seldom happens. To be clear: if I come to a stop, and put it in P, and ECO shuts off the engine - if I then undo my seatbelt before pushing the button to turn the ignition off, ECO shuts off the car in a way that stop the SmartTop from operating. (Not just SmartTop - if I was in the middle of raising the roof, it stops halfway, and I have to restart the car, not just turn on ignition, to finish raising the roof. )

So.. I read through the posts...

I *very respectfully* don't get it.

I put the top up as I'm pulling in.

I leave the windows cracked. The top goes down quickly enough when I get in.

I'm not mod averse. I've got a camera, tune, wheels and pipes.. Always looking for something worth the $$$ to give her something more.

But $400 just to remotely do the top?

Ironically, I might pay that for remote start. . Lol...

I leave the top down, if weather and location allow. But if I have the top up, I love putting it down as I'm walking to the car. Even with the windows cracked, there's a whole lot of hot air to be released.

As if this car needs more drama...

I meant to add.. it could be a geographic thing too.. we see about 3 weeks MAX of 100* here...

In Texas I might pay $1000 for it.

This is the only mod I have done to my car and it is the best $400 I have ever spent.

The main reason is that I am tall and a big guy. Our car parks here are also often very narrow and it can be almost impossible at times to get out of the car with the top up in a narrow park without the door touching the car next to you. With the top down easy.

Also love putting the top down from a distance to,let the hot air out on a hot day. I can even do it from my office the fourth floor of my building and by the time I get down to the car the hot air is all gone.

I no longer have my 2014 F-Type but I highly recommend it. Works perfectly. Best feature is being able to walk to or away from the car and have it open/close its own top.

That's the only mod I've done to my car, and I love it. One caveat: on my MY14, if I let ECO mode shut off the car, it's a harder shutdown that turning off the ignition, and the roof will lose power. Have to start the car (not just turn on the ignition) to operate the roof if that happens. Solution: leave it in dynamic, or turn off ECO.

I'm a big fan of the Smart Top. As mentioned above, dropping the top on the way to the car lets the temperature drop and makes it easier to get in. I've even had the occasion to hear a clap of thunder when I was in a restaurant and was able to button things up from my table.

This may sound stupid, but I have had the module for 2 years now, and have not found the combination of time/mood to install it on my 16R. If somebody wants to take it off of my hands, PM me, as I am so used to operating without it now, there is no longer a need (probably the reason for not finding the mood/time to do it. Far from lazy :-), mind over matter I guess.

Again, please PM me if interested in buying it from me.
Thanks

It's a very easy install, other than shoehorning it and the harnesses into a tight space.

The maintenance secrecy might be a jaguar thing - I also have been barred from the workshop and the mechanic - something that has never happened with any other car I've had - it really irritates me - especially given the British car build problems I have had to deal with.
On the other matter, I personally think the "real" Porsches are as beautiful as their SUVs and the Panamera are an abomination to the eyes. I wanted a Cayman more than anything until I drove it and discovered it didn't feel right for me - it was a very sad realization.
In contrast I put 1200 miles on my F type in the last three days and was sad when I pulled into the house and had to put it away late last night - this is why I put up with poor service and don't have the Porsche (though I still sort of want one)
