I emailed them about any issues with MY18 model updates (will it interfere with the remote start app etc) but they never replied

I am debating keeping mine from the MY15 and installing it into the MY16 (i never did this yet.....and??).

I know some people say it is easy, but I had a problem installing, wedging the module into the car area where it goes, and ultimately getting the software to work. i am debating if I should go through this one more time (feel stupid but have a mental block on this one).

Could somebody who was successful give me the idiots guide (with pics if you have them, otherwise simple directions) for an F-Type convert.?

If it is clear, I could install, and agree....., why didn't they design this for the Jaguar from the beginning???

Thanks so much all!

Sorry but I think this product is really bad for the post 2016 cars, on the older cars 3 presses of unlock will open the roof, and 3 of lock will lock it, but post 16 you need to do unlock lock unlock lock unlock sequence to open it as per this video
all the time the door locks and mirrors are going in and out, its a real chore to do it and I think it will prematurely wear out the door handles and mirrors, pre 16 cars its probably great but not on the new ones,

As the new owner of one that I installed this weekend - I regretfully agree with you. It is fiddly and all the flashing lights moving mirrors and door handle (that occasionally jams) looks to be stressing my MY16, also the remote is fiddly - it is easy to get the sequence wrong and that involves restarting the process all over and, with somewhat hard remote buttons (that will surely prematurely wear the remotes symbols). I admit to buyers remorse.

I asked them if there was a way round, but got this back - Hello David,
Yes the module always gets installed on the left side, no matter if the car is LHD or RHD. So it sounds like you got it installed correctly and everything is working.
The operation on the new models is a bit unfortunate, as there is absolutely no signal of the remote on the data bus. We basically had the choice between omitting the remote from the 2016+ models or finding a "hack" that will still make it possible at all. By checking the status of the door locks, we were finally able to figure out a sequence that is reliable and doesn't accidentally get activated when just locking or unlocking the car. The handles and mirrors are not going to sustain any damage or excessive wear unless you literally use this remote sequence 50 times a day. For the occasional opening or closing of the top it should be fine.

I agree with both, I don't think this will wear out your car, but the sequence sucks. Sadly I'd likely still do it (because it just looks cool) but I wouldn't be as happy as I am with it now.

Yeah I love my smart top but I don't think I would bother if I had to do that.

it really doesn't look cool when you have to stand there and go open lock open lock open in front of people, they just think you can't work the remote properly

Couldn't they just make it, hit the close button 3x or lock button 3x, not this open close open close open madness. I don't even use the function anymore, but I still love the one touch open and close from inside the vehicle, that is the best part.

I spoke with them and they said no, something Jaguar has done to the security prevents them from being able to do that now

I've fitted mine tonight, soft close\open inside button, I have to hold the button for 5 seconds to start the close operation.
This normal as it isn't the same for opening.
Cheers
