My friend's phone can be plugged into the usb for charging, and be connected to bluetooth in my car. Mine, however, cannot. We both have iPhones - what gives?

I have a 2015 base coupe. The infotainment system gives me a message only after I disconnect (not when I connect my usb/lightning cable) that connected devices can't be on bluetooth. But his can, so it is driving me crazy!

Use the other USB port. The one you are using is for InControl.

On my 2016, the usb cable has to be specifically plugged into the orange in-Control socket for both charging and Bluetooth connection.

Maybe I am missing something, I think I only have the one (blue) usb port in the center console. I do not have the InControl software. I think I was just shy of it.

Delete your device from the Infotainment system, and re-pair with the car While the phone is plugged in.. I had to do that once.

OK, I have my Samsung Galaxy S8 set up via Bluetooth. Phone calls work, streaming music works, but I don't see any way to get Texts. The feature worked great in a '16 Discovery Sport which appeared to have a very similar infotainment system. What am I missing?

You're missing a '16 discovery sport. No such feature on the '16 F-Type.

That would be why you have that feature. MY16 does not have that.

I guess when CarPlay arrives none of the existing models will be able to have it either.

I can’t find that feature on my new my18. Not for a lack of looking though

I’ve not tried it with Bluetooth. I always plug into the InControl socket. There is no app it just works. If I can I’ll try later today to see if it works with Bluetooth.
