Default Sos system limited functionality

Vehicle: 2018 Jaguar F-Type R, AWD
Location: USA

Hi everyone,

I'm driving a 2018 Jaguar F-Type R AWD and encountering a recurring issue. The "SOS SYSTEM LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY" warning light intermittently appears. I've observed that it mostly shows up when I accelerate hard and then disappears when I resume normal driving. Could this be indicative of a problem with the catalytic converter?

Thanks for any advice!

I can't help myself with this response: Are you sure that the message wasn't "SOL" as in "What you're gonna be if the police catch you when you accelerate hard". Or....... optional thought that while under hard acceleration the active "SOS" capacity to send out an accident alarm is limited. Both are WAG's! Thanks BTW, for your response on the ATT chip info.

More likely to be a failing (or flat needing a recharge) backup battery in the TCM (telematics module), nothing to do with the cats. There are threads on here about that.

100%.
It's just a dying battery, and so it's triggering the system that you would use to call for help, etc. Or something. Obviously I'm not a technician.
But I remember there being something, an outlier event, that could brick the car. It's in that other thread.
I believe it is this one: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-191247/page2/

Oddly enough I just replaced mine and the problem still exists. Hoping it takes a few drives to charge up or something but was expecting an instant fix...

Smile Bad Communication Module

I started having this problem about 2 weeks ago. At first the tech thought is was the battery. then he tried to do an up date on the system and it wouldn't go through. After more testing he determined it was a bad communication module. He sent to jag for a replacement and the one they sent was coded for a Russian F-Type. They are searching all of the dealer repair and parts around the country to find a good one. I hope they find and replace the unit so I can get my baby back
