Starting my F-Type search
After years of adoration, I am beginning my search for an F-Type!
2 days ago, my wife and I took our first test drive in a 2018 400 sport; AWD coupe, Santorini Black. We love the way it drove and handled the road, even in slippery conditions. The interior was quite comfortable and my 6'5" frame fit comfortably, which was a concern. The 400 package looked great with the unique badging and ground effects. The car seemingly was a good deal at $47,000 with 20k miles. It demonstrated solid mechanical performance and all electronics were functional. Unfortunately, it has 4 previous owners, the intake has been modified, resonator deleted, and the paint has surface scratches everywhere. I could have looked past the scratches knowing that they can be buffed out and I probably could have lived with the minor mods (though I really prefer stock), but the 4 prior owners fact ultimately made me walk away from this one. From what I've learned so far, F-types can be very reliable cars, but they need to be properly maintained from the start. With 4 owners; too much doubt entered my gut. What are your opinions?
So, the search begins. The ideal F-Type for us will be a 2018 - 2020 coupe, V6, AWD, AUTO, < 35k miles, climate 1 pkg, blind spot pkg, no accidents, clean title and strongly prefer single owner. Prefer black but open to gray or green. Hoping to find a very well maintained one in the $40k - $45k range. Does this seem doable and any suggestions on where to look or what to look out for?
Cheers!

Try to track down the CarFax. That will give you a good start to understand how/if the previous owners took care of the car. I would be concerned about the owners' attitudes given the obvious visual of damaged paint... "if that's what you can see, what is there that you can't see?". Then, trust your gut. Yes, it's hard to walk away sometimes, but sometimes you just have to. The right car is out there.. this MAY be it, and may be not.......
