I know this is an older thread, but for those who still desire to do this, we offer a great solution that has some added benefits like a reference point for a boost gauge.

Definitely quieter with delete, too mercedes-like.
It's not the amount of sound I found offensive but the quality and the on/off nature of it. I suspect now that the manual transmission exacerbates the latter, so what's a slap in the face to me is likely unnoticed by most.

You may be right about it being worse in a manual. In an R/auto, symposer seems to add a base note which I think fits the character of the car and is blended. The only time I find it annoying is in 8th gear on highway at 1600 rpm. But kicking down to 7th and locking out 8th quickly solves it.

The weird thing for me was when I put the lower pulley and tune on the car. Now the strange Symposer noise seemed out of touch with the car and made odd noises at odd times. Anyone notice a change after tuning the car?

Before the mods it was not too noticeable and I was not aware of what it did until this forum started having posts about removing it. I have a 2014 XJR so different model car.

I started this thread going on ten years ago, so it's nothing new.

Unfortunately I can't answer your question since I defeated the symposer long before changing the pulley and never looked back.
