Default Is there a way to reverse the active Exhaust button

Searched the active exhaust threads but didn't see this anywhere:

I have a 2016 R model. I like driving with the active exhaust open.( not in Dynamic mode ) But I have to turn the switch on every time I start the car. Is there a way the switch can be reversed so every time you start the car, it automatically opens the exhaust and stays there until you hit the button to turn the active exhaust mode off?? Just the opposite of what it does now. Wife doesn't always like the active on, so leaving it on permanently is not an option.

Your avatar looks like you have a 'vert. If so, get a "Smart Top" module. I addition to getting the capability to use your fob to raise/lower windows and top, you also can change the exhaust default.

Smart Top

it is technically possible but in reality a big NO. I dont think anyone has done it as too much trouble and very risky of buggering up things. Would require tracing the switch connections back to circuit board level and swapping a alway open (ie : off switch) with a always closed switch (on switch).

how about doing what some others have with wiring a physical switch to the appropriate fuse and that circuit can be left open until you choose otherwise

I was going to say the same thing. One of the best things I've gotten for the F Type. Seems expensive at first, but then you realize how much it does.

I'm guessing the effort isn't going to be worth the reward, but I could be wrong.

100%. Smart Top module is worth it. For the exhaust control and the auto-start disable alone. And then there’s all the handy mods for operating the top!

I think you guys just sold me on the Smartop

Does the remote top function work w/ the factory key? Is it a certain combination of key inputs or something?

I'm about to order one right now.

I don't think the switches work that way. I think they are momentary contact and send a signal to one of the numerous control units which may then send a message over the network to another control unit, and it's programmed logic that toggles things on or off.

Yes, with the factory key. Three presses on unlock puts the top down, three presses on lock puts it up. Two each direction does just the windows. You can customize that a bit.

Their website is a little crazy but it's an easy install and it has been working flawlessly. Out of the cars they offer it for, they seem to do more for the F-Type than a lot of the others in the way of extra features. Lucky us!

+1 on SmartTop. Not only will it leave your exhaust switch where you want it but if you have start/stop it can auto-disable that as well. Never mind the real benefit--remote roof open/close. Best mod by far.

The three presses is only necessary for the 2018+ model years. OP has a 2016 so just a long press and hold on the unlock button should open the top and a long press and hold on the lock button will close the top.

Mine is a 2018 so I guess I'm gonna be doing the 3 click method.

Definitely read the manual and set up before you install. It's a tight fit, but once it's in, it's in.

I have an earlier SmartTop - 3 pushes for up/down, doesn’t have some of the newer features (active exhaust, ECO). I use it for raising/lowering the roof at least as much as I use the console switch.

DJS,
Is it just a firmware update to add the newer features? I got my smarttop in Dec '19 and I updated it before I installed it. Might be worth a look?

Love my SmartTop. I just wish it could put the vehicle in Dynamic on start-up, but the SmartTop folks said that the dynamic button operates on a different bus, and can't be controlled by the body control module harness that the SmartTop plugs into.

On my '16 there is no 'hold button' option. Instead of 3-clicks on lock or unlock, I have to alternate. So to close the top I have to hit lock-unlock-lock, and to open I have to hit unlock-lock-unlock. There's some other options to do windows only and such that changes things to be lock-unlock-lock-unlock-lock, which is just ridiculous so I don't have that enabled. I'm already concerned over burning out the door handle and mirror motors with all the back-and-forth. lol

Update the firmware in the application, then push it to the unit. It should unlock the new features.

Well, I don’t have switchable active exhaust (I.e. no button), and my ECO battery is dead, so no ECO either. I do have it reversing the sense of the up/down switch, as it seems backwards to me.

Does anyone know if this capability is available for coupes? ie, without the smart top module?
