Hi all. forgive the ignorance about the car but I just bought a used 2014 f-type S V6. I notice a disconnected wire behind the mirror with a blue connector. after searching for a while, I noticed a metal encased "thing" attached to the windshield with a connector receiver. the blue connector I had found fit into it perfectly. From the outside it looks like 3 phone cam lenses in a triangle. When I turned the car on, nothing was different except the first time it told me the smartkey was not detected and I had to hold it somewhere and push the start button (but this may have been just a coincidence. Does anyone know what this "thing" is? Unfortunately this car did not come with a user manual....thanks in advance for your help.

 

Go to: https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/user/loginForm, register for free, enter your VIN, and find your owner’s manual. On the ‘14, that gizmo is the rain, ambient light and oncoming car sensors (for the auto high beam).
