Default Thinking about converting chrome HIDs to black housing

I have HID adaptive headlights with chrome housing, and I always liked the black version more. Used ones almost does not exists, price for new is crazy.
I am thinking of buying damaged ones which I can supply, open them, and swap the chrome part to black. From photos it should be 2 parts, the ring and the side-part...

Can this be done? Is it safe to open and reglue the headlight without damaging them? I have never done this, so maybe I could find some headlight expert in my area to do this.
Thanks

I've not opened up the F-Type ones specifically, but it should be fine as long as you soften the glue appropriately using an oven. If you are worried, then someone like lightwerkz can be hired to do it for you.

Guarantee you that it's doable, and that you could probably find a shop that does headlight retrofits, and that THEY would be able to easily do this for you if you didn't want to do it yourself.

As to who they are, no idea, you'd have to look locally. I was going to get the headlights on my Impreza retrofitted to projectors way back. I just looked, and the place I was going to get to do it is no longer in business, but there are many others.

Check this page for what seems like a bunch of independent shops in Europe that may do such things. Good luck!

opening these headlights is a labor of love, insanity and frustration. If you are not well versed in doing it find somebody else or keep searching the junkyards.
