If you have the standard chrome colored front grills with the chrome surround...

And you want the black grills with the chrome surround - for the top...

Can you purchase just the black grills?

Or do you have to purchase the black grills with a chrome surround?

I guess the question better asked is - can you use your old chrome surround and just buy the black grills?

I see the following options;

Chrome grill W/Chrome surround. C2D49959. Note for some reason they list two different kinds of chrome? Hex and Trivalent. Don't know which one is better?
Black Grill W/Chrome surround, C2D49955. Again see the note above.
Finally Black grill W/Black surround. C2D43031.

It also depends on IF the car has ACC since the grill has a large plastic plate that mounts the ACC radar unit. The above numbers are for non-ACC cars.
Also note they have a different part number for VIN's above V90866 which must be very late in the XJ production run because my 2014 is in the V54xxx range.
The surround and grill can be separated but as normal it's all plastic tabs so breakage is always a possibility!

You can mix and match if your willing to take stuff apart. It looks like from the JEPC that yes the surround and grill are different parts and the numbers above are for the entire assembly. But hold on to your wallet!! I see $1000+ for prices!! And that's for the non-ACC versions.

Oh I did find JUST the grill! Again just for the non-ACC cars.

Even cheaper on Amazon? This is a chrome version again. But comes complete with grill and surround.

I would check Ebay for used stuff for sure! Also there is the cheap chinese knock offs which might work fine since this is just a trim piece?
