Default Ticking sound

While still enjoying the Velar my final problem has been diagnosed. The ticking is coming from the "nub" on front of supercharger, where belt drive is. Fixed by a kit so it can't be repaired just replaced. this car has ticked off and on for years but never consistently to last few months. Not a small job as supercharger needs to come out for the repair. Warranty company freaking out, Red Shield, sending an "inspector " on Thur. The service manager told me he will handle it. Total repair for everything is $2400 so warranty company is still ahead if nothing else happens till Sept. The dealer sold me this coverage.

Sounds like you are talking about the SC coupler (AKA torsion isolator), a well known problem on both the V6 and V8, I had mine replaced under warranty about 18 months ago. The official JLR warranty fix is to replace the entire snout of the SC and not just the coupler (that sits in the snout).

Snout sounds better than nub, yes the fix here is a complete replacement. I think warranty company wants it fixed not total replacement, my manager told me they can't spec out of Jag policy so inspector has to see to believe. Must be some kind of local claims adjuster or inspector for hire!

What does this ticking sound like? My V6S is a noisy engine but I thought I'm haring the direct injector noise.

What year(s) of V6 F types are afflicted with this supercharger issue?

The torsion isolator/coupler noise is not a tick, it's a rattle.
Very obvious on start up and idle and you can easily hear it over the normal fuel injector tick.
It's an intermittent irregular rattle, a bit like a marble being shaken in a tin can.
It settles down a bit with revs and/or a warm engine but you can still hear it, maybe not from in the car but definitely from the outside and especially with the hood open.
Another symptom is a loud "clunk" when you shut the engine down.
It can happen on any and all V6s and V8s built before some time in 2016, when Eaton replaced the dodgy coupler with an updated version.
All dealer fitted updates use the later version.
It doesn't happen to all the early ones and the mileage it happens at seems to vary a lot but because it is caused by the spring inside the coupler wearing a groove in the plastic of the coupler then obviously the more miles the greater the chance of it happening.
