First time touching a drag strip in over a decade. I’ll definitely be back to drop my time.
How are you guys launching your F Type? I saw someone mentioned not to brake torque it and just punch it. Here was my best of three runs.

Heck of a 1/4 mile ET! Seriously though, you could improve on the reaction time. What was the speed?

That would work out to about 11.7-11.9 second 1/4mile.

I don’t think the track was clocking speed. I believe I was right at 100 when I passed the line. I definitely have room for improvement. ~7.3 seems to be a consistent number for the svr in the 1/8th. Next chance I get I’ll take it to the 1/4 mile track in Memphis.

Not everyone at the drag strip is trying time the light perfectly; kinda rude to assume that.

The general consensus at the moment is launching from idle is the quickest way down the track. That's how the quickest times have been run on this forum. Until someone develops a safe cal that doesn't pull torque, we won't be able to launch these cars hard like the GTR crowd does.

The OP didn't seem offended by the "rude" comment, but you felt compelled to comment. Why?

Just curious. For best performance whether at the track or street, is it better to stay in automatic while in dynamic mode or shift manually using the paddles while in dynamic mode? Just guessing that from a dig automatic may be more effective and from a roll on the highway manually shifting with the paddles would be quicker due to being able to control the power band?

A friend who was at the track with me said his corvette seemed to prefer staying in Drive. I tried that a couple times. My third and quickest run was paddle shifting. This is a sample size of 3 with a beginner driver at a track I haven’t visited in a decade. Take that with a grain of salt. Shifting was more fun though.

I've always had better times manually shifting.

^ Thanks, I'm going with your results knowing that you have ample experience launching both ways and you actually matched Motor Trend's best stock ET. Do you remember the lower RPM sweet spot for a 40 MPH + highway roll back when your car was stock?

What was your thoughts on DSC? I’m assuming turning it off is the way to go. I didn’t even think to change the settings on those runs at the strip. Today I hit up a back road and did a launch with it off. Definitely felt better.

I've read about having success turning off DSC and using TracDSC. What's everyone's experience with that?

I have a 2015 F Type R. We did the upper and lower pully, 200 cell cats and exhaust, and Tuned . Ran a 11.3 at 128 mph. Theres no launch control on this car. Very disappointing. Couldn't get off the line very well. Traction control hurt. But, once rolling it was fast and I beat the **** out of both cars I raced. One was a modified Shelby Cobra and the other was a modified BMW M3.

In the AWD with good tires, it honestly doesn't matter because you're gonna hook off the line. I have always run DSC full off, but I don't think you'll see any major difference. If you get any sort of wheel slip however, the car will basically shutdown for a second, which is frustrating if it happens. This is mostly an on-street issue for me instead of a prep'd track surface.

Can't say I remember my shift points when I was stock, as that was years ago. However I imagine it didn't change much, a few hundred RPM before the limiter.

Your MPH says 10s are possible with that car. All about the grip and the launch I'm afraid.

Not a drag strip experience, but on the track TracDSC allows some wheel spin before taking away your toys.

Personally, I race with TracDSC. It bailed me out couple of times when I did something stupid. 9.9/10 that TracDSC allows is good enough for me.

I would think similar thinking could apply here - what value is to you perfect slip vs. not hitting a wall with your car?

I bet these guys wished they didn't turn traction control completely off:

That's what happens when your ego won't let you chance being beaten by a pick up truck. You try and take them out!
