Default tow hooks

I never got a tow hook and didn't know it might be missing. Did everyone get one? Is it a year thing?

I only got the rear tow hook (the smaller black one which you are never supposed to use anyway) and no front tow hook holder slot in the trunk either.
But I am talking about a used car not a new one, 'sfar as I know all new F-Types regardless of country, year or model are supposed to come with the larger "silver" front tow hook.
If you want to buy one don't go to a dealership and get bent over, instead buy an XF one from Fleabay for cheap (although none on there at the moment that I can see).
I know for a fact the XF one fits the F-Type perfectly and I suspect it is identical.
Speaking of XF and F-Type tow hooks, there is a thread around here somewhere where someone was looking for an after-market "racing" style tow hook for their F-Type and I just stumbled across this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-Car-Auto-Front-Bumper-Screw-Aluminum-CNC-T2-Towing-Tow-Hook-Race-Universal/163443369175?fits=Model%3AXF%7CMake%3AJaguar&hash= item260dfbe4d7:g:Q4cAAOSwr-Bb6PKF:rk:8f:0
This may be just what they are after, if it fits the XF if also fits the F-Type.

Edit - the link to the XF tow hook seems to have gone haywire, try this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-Car-Aut...6PKF:rk:8:pf:0

Lance, thought you couldn't access the threads with your P7 grill in the way.

not yet, but I can compare to the OEM hook. I plan on drilling a hole in the surround to access the receiver. The shank on the new hook appears to have a smaller shaft, thus minimizing the required hole size. The tow mounted license bracket seized up on my MINI causing all kinds of hassles trying to get the car up on a flatbed a couple weeks ago. Don’t want to go through that with the Jag. Tow truck operators are not keen on turning their rigs around to hook the car from the rear.

When I clink on either link, and put the F type in the vehicle menu for fit, both hooks indicated they are not compatible with F-type. I am overlooking something?

Yep, that's what happened to me when I reopened my original post and clicked on the link to check it - it took me to a page for a similar tow hook but supposedly not the XF one - which is why I added (what I thought was) a different link. It now seems that different link is also a dud.
The way to find the correct page/ad is to go to eBay Motors (www.motors.ebay.com) then search for "Jaguar XF tow hook".
That brings up a results page where for me the tow hook we want is the sixth listing down the page.
That ad has a "compatible with" box listing only the Jaguar XF 2010 - 2015, ie the X250 but not the X260.
However the link to that ad says ".....Tow Hook Race Universal (Fits Jaguar XF)", and the word universal worries me a little.
Bottom line - it's very difficult to be sure if this advertised tow hook really does fit the XF X250 (and hence the F-Type as well) so we'll just have to wait for Lance!

Thread diameter is too large and right hand rather than left hand.

So no damn good at all, that's a shame, sorry for getting peoples's hopes up.
The seller should be sued for false advertising and I hope you are getting a refund Lance.

Already requested return instructions. I know how to work eBay if I don’t get a proper response. No worries.

Get in touch with these guys, I bought a few tow hooks from them over the years, to set cars up for trackdays. I got an XF/XK one from them, which would be the same as for the F-Type.

The red tape and writing is from me obviously.

That looks too similar to the OEM hook for my liking. Was hoping for something more like the one I ordered

Ah ok, I thought you were missing the OEM one (like others had said) and just wanted a functional tow hook, didn't occur to me that you wanted to rice up the car.

Not many machine shops around that can turn a 19mm reverse thread.
