Default TPMS receiver location.

Has anyone had to replace either the TPMS receiver or the keyless entry receiver? I purchased the unit on the left, as a replacement for a faulty TPMS receiver on my 2015 convertible. In every picture or video where I’ve seen someone try to swap out this receiver or even just working on speakers, the square unit is always the one I see. However, when I got behind the seats, the unit on the right is what I found. When looking that part number up, it says it is a keyless entry receiver. OK, fine, then where is my TPMS receiver? is it possible that one receiver is intended to provide both functions and I just need to purchase a new one like the one on the right versus the square one on the left? Thanks.

FYI, when I had the dealer replace my failing TPMS sensors in 2023 (dying batteries), they installed 433MHz sensors as their parts book told them. Which is wrong, my car takes 315MHz sensors as documented on this forum. Worked fine once they installed the correct frequency sensors. I don’t know if that would apply to your 2015.

thanks. My whole system is original front to back. It worked for a couple years and then just stopped. Everything in the tires and just outside the tires checks out as good. My thought is it must be the receiver. I just need to find out where it is! Thanks.

The sensor batteries have around a 10 year lifespan. I had one wheel throw errors before the whole system was dead.

Sorry, was just making sure you didn’t have a different issue. I think you already have the repair manual.

absolutely, no problem. Thanks. However the manual says it’s behind my seats, which is where I found the keyless entry antenna instead. Just trying to find someone who’s actually physically replaced it or know where it might be located somewhere else.

Remarkably, our very own Herman Wiegman made a video on replacing the TPMS control module in his coupe, which is different from the convertible shown in the repair manual.

yes, that’s one of the videos I’ve referenced. It shows the small square unit, which I was told to buy, and yet mine has the one with the antenna. I’m trying to decide if perhaps mine for some reason is in a different location or if the one with the antenna is supposed to do both jobs. Thanks.

It wouldn't think it does both jobs, the modules are separate functions and would operate on different frequencies.

The TPMS antennas are inside the bumpers on each corner (the yellow oval here). That should be the actual antenna, the device behind the seat is just the CPU. I have a 2014 convertible and it has antennas like the diagram.

These are the last two steps in the module replacement process in the manual. Was yours held in with velcro? I can't tell from this photo exactly where it's located, but it's somewhere behind that center panel.
