Tracking Cargo Ship Movements for your F-Type
I have been reading all the anxiety from some members about their F-Type orders and the long wait times. I ordered my last BMW, which only took 8 weeks, and it almost killed me. Four of those weeks involved shipping from Bremerhaven Germany to Port Heuneme CA. Relying on the dealer for regular shipping information can be frustrating in my experience.
I haven’t heard much talk on this forum about the MarineTraffic app. and I apologize if this is already common knowledge here. I sense from what I have been reading that a lot of members don’t know they can track their car on a map, once it is on the ship, via a simple app.
Disclaimer: I do not work for this company or have any financial ties to it. I am simply passing this information along to help ease your pain.

I’m not 100% sure with Jaguar, but your dealer should be able to give you the name of the cargo ship carrying your car once it has finished production. You can do this with BMW. I see some members have figured out ship names and maybe they can share how they got this information. The app is not perfect, but you can then use it on your smart phone or desktop to find the ship, save it and watch its exact movements on the map. It will give you arrival and departure times at every port. If you create an account, you can receive email alerts for ship movements. Go to your account information on the desktop web browser version, my notifications, find your saved ship and set up alerts. There will be some dead spots across the Atlantic where the ship will not be seen for a few days.
Also, some ports have live web cams on their websites and you can actually watch the ship go through the Panama Canal on their site, if yours is taking that route.
I hope this is helpful!

I tracked the shipment of my last three BMWs. There are posts that detail the steps, but I haven't done it in 3 years. One will need to do some searching.
I recall that all you need to know from the dealer is the date when the car enters production and then at that time, the VIN becomes available. The VIN ia also used for the shipping line.
I could even track my first car on CN Rail from Halifax port to Toronto. They stopped handing out accounts 'tho to just anyone.
