Default Transmission Reset/Relearn?

I would like to reset the transmission in my car to see if it helps to clear up some odd shift behavior at low speeds. Is the procedure the same as it is for BMW (turn on ignition without starting car, throttle to the floor for 30 seconds, release throttle, turn off ignition and then restart the car)? Or is this something a dealership/mechanic needs to do?

What odd behavior are you experiencing? I have noticed recently that my XF has been almost lazy when shifting at slow speeds. Like it holds rpms longer than need be when just coasting at slow speeds.

Mine seemed to hang a bit at low speeds and was harsh from 2-3. It would also seem to get confused if you were on the throttle, let off and then got right back into it. It seemed to want to shift instead of just holding the gear.

I tried the procedure listed above and it seems to have made a large difference. It is smooth off the line, holds gears in a turn, doesn't hunt off throttle and generally feels more like it should. I have only driven about 50 miles and none of it hard. I also can't confirm I did anything and that the changes aren't all in my head, but it certainly feels much better.

So did it actually reset the transmission? Or did it just reset the adaptations?

Not sure if it's just adaptations but I doubt it. Seems to have made a huge difference on mine.
