Default Trunk (Boot) Cover

Is there a cover that came OEM for the Vert trunk that fits over the recessed area? In the alternative, would the coupe piece fit. The only piece I can find at Harpers Jag online is specified for the coupe and Harpers says they cannot guarantee fitment.

Why would it need a cover? You have a boot/trunk lid, not a glassy hatch.

Eidt: Oops, must read posts more carefully, I thought you meant the cargo cover. Apologies.

Looks to be the same size and shape as the cover in my coupe.
Best bet is to meet up with someone who has a coupe and see if it fits.

I had a 2017 S AWD convertible from new, and it had a cover over that space. I now have a coupe (same year and model), but I don't know if the coupe cover is the same size or not. Also don't know about earlier years, but you might check parts for a 2017 or later.

I've never seen or heard of such a cover.

FYI: if you fancy a bit of measuring, the dimensions of the one in my MY!8 coupe are:

Width of widest point (back of car): 32"
Width of narrowest point: 28"
Fronf to baCK: 18.25"

You are correct... I got confused with my coupe... the convertible did not have a cover. Sorry for the previous post in error. Thanks for the correction!

My 2015 V8S Conv has a cover over the recessed area. Now that I see yours though it makes me think about removing it.

Sure, see below. Very tight fit, have to really tug on it to lift up. I'm still not sure if I'd say it offers more or less use in the trunk.

Thanks for the picture jjslat. Much cleaner look. The downside would be the size. If you are out and need to take advantage of the deeper hole for a tall item, where do you put the cover. I think I'll just leave it as is. A small cover the size of the opening would have been more practical.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that cover IS from a coupe.

I agree with your line of thinking. I think I'll just make one using some thin fiberboard, a little OEM carpet material, and some locator tabs for each corner. Now just to get the time to do it....

Thanks for all the replies.

I doubt it is from a coupe, the coupe cover is two pieces (at least in mine it is!), see the pic in post #1 which shows the same shape of smaller panel on the left as the coupe smaller piece.

And this is exactly why I'm not a betting man. Thanks Oz.

I doubt your doubt, mine looks exactly the same as the pic - it covers both the cubby and the battery cover, see the recess arond both. Sounds like earlier models had a different arrangement.

I've never needed the cover in my coupe; however, there have been times I've needed it to not be there. The only reason I keep it in is I have one of those all weather truck liners in the back. On road trips with the SO, I always remove it and the hatch cover to get more space. It was funny on my last wine trip when I had to keep explaining to the people that I wanted individual bags for the bottles and not cases as I could not get more cases to fit in the back.

Thanks, yep it seems only the early coupes have two piece covers which explains a lot.
But the $64,000 question remains unanswered - will a later coupe one piece cover fit a 'vert???????

Edit - I'm a bozo - I finally got around to actually checking and my cover IS one piece. It's just that underneath that cover is a second piece on the left covering the battery, next to the cubby.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread - but does anyone have a part number for this trim cover?
