Default Trusted Body Shop in San Francisco

Hi All,

The jag is hurt! Came out of the grocery store and found damage on the passenger side between the quarter panel and rear bumper. Not sure if it happened in the parking lot, but there is white paint in the damage area so definitely a hit and run sort of thing. Anyway, filing a claim but wanted to reach out to you guys to see if anyone knows of a good body shop in San Francisco I should go to.

Thanks!

When I had a spot of bother I was told there were only two shops in the Bay Area certified by JLR for the all-aluminum cars. I only noted the one on my side of the bay, but can highly recommend Brooks Motor Cars. They are in Oakland, and have recently opened another in Walnut Creek. Perhaps more shops are trained now. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, they may have a recommendation. For my repair, I honestly can't tell the difference from the factory paint, and I have a pretty discerning eye.

By the way, if the quarter panel needs replacement, the door needs to come off.

If the car is insured, only allow a JLR certified shop do the repair. Otherwise, the car may never qualify for CPO when it goes for sale.

Thanks lizzardo. The quarter panel seems to have been scratched, but where the rear bump meets the panel is where most of the damage is.

Body shop will immediately go for "repaint whole panel". This is not the right approach for small blemishes, as repaint is never as good as factory paint. I suggest investigating how much of it can be polished before you commit to painting body panels.

Bumper is different, paint it as much as you want as it is plastic. Just don't let them use filler on plastic.

I had the bad fortune of finding my drivers side rear quarter panel sporting a huge dent on a Monday after street parking at my condo. I had it repaired thru San Jose Jaguar, at their certified partner shop, Superior Auto Body in San Carlos. They replaced the entire drivers side quarter panel and matched the paint perfectly, it wasn't cheap or quick (came in at $14k and about 6 weeks) but it was done right. I cannot say enough about the quality of their work, I highly recommend them.

Thanks for the recommendation guys. Really appreciate the different considerations. I am looking at Cars Dawydiak from the certified list. The metal panel isnt dented at all, so I'm hoping it's just the bumper.

Any good shop can handle the bumper skin. If the aluminum body panel needs to be straightened, you'll need the authorized shop.
