I'm always amazed that owners of high performance cars drive them under conditions that may cause a hydrolock situation to occur.

I saw a 2015 Aston Martin DB9 that was hydrolocked during a storm when the driver chose to drive through a deep puddle. The low level of the air filter inlets caused the water to be drawn in similar to the X152 shown in these videos.

The DB9 owner was back on the road a month later for 70 000$US with a new long block.

Given that the cause of failure was flooding, perhaps changing the title to indicate that cause might prevent heart failure in some of us!

I attempted to edit the title. When clicking on the edit tab it brings you to the edit window at which point I completely deleted the title and and put in a completely different title but it does not change from the original title. Strange

Thanks for trying….I just keep imagining trolls scanning posting titles to prove how unreliable Jaguars are. In this particular case it seems to have been the owner who was unreliable and who did not understand that water and engines don’t play well.

Default Uneducated drivers

These drivers have little to zero knowledge of the car they are driving and so they believe the car can pass through deep waters. This is a Jaguar not a Land Rover Defender

One of the admins can change the title if you so desire.

It's easy to sit back in one's armchair and criticize with zero knowledge of the circumstances.

Yes, it's most likely that the owner was ignorant and/or negligent. However it is possible that the situation was unavoidable (use your imagination). It's only fair to give the benefit of the doubt and refrain from admonishing anyone without complete details.

Just my $0.02.

Default Owner's fault? NOT

If you look at the second video that Turko posted, around minute 4, you will see why the car took on water. Whoever messed with the intake (?) under the car, did not fit it back together correctly, a large opening that allowed the water to enter.

Just sayin'

@Luc Lapierre, unfortunately, when I've come across this situation, I'm not in some armchair, or at a computer in Canada, but with the vehicle and talking to the owner(s) to get their version of what happened.

I'm on my phone actually 😁

I'm not talking about specific situations that you've encountered personally; all I'm saying is that when you see a forum post about a water-damaged engine, it's probably best not to immediately blame the owner without knowing the full story.
