Could likely have one dipped and shipped for 10% of that.

I have lots of carbon fiber in the engine bay of my R8. And it's always visible through the glass. Not sure there's a lot of visual utility in getting it for the F-Type, but for cars shows and one's own pleasure. Having said that, dipping would be my choice here

As I've previously remarked, the only person who is going get to see this is your mechanic.

As such, it is one off the few options on the F type that is a bigger waste of money than the powered tailgate...

The powered tailgate is an awesome feature that is especially helpful when you are carrying many bags full of goods.
The most useless feature is actually the InControl Apps, that is by far the biggest waste of money.

I took the engine cover off of my R as it only serves to hold heat in. My Jaguar master mechanic told me that lots of drivers have done this ... if I understood him correctly (this conversation was at a Jag open house, noisy and months ago) he said the XKR-s ( I think it was the model) does not have the engine cover and the bottom cover, under the car is also not included on this model due to heat build up and he said it does not affect the dynamics on the XKR-S.
Edit: he may have been talking about the XKR-S - GT.
Lawrence.

It looks like it might serve to keep water dropping onto the engine through the vents.

"Many bags full of goods"? Are you sure you were driving an F Type? There isn't the space to put many bags full of goods...

In Control Apps - fair point.

I shop weekly at Costco for a family of six, an overflowing cart, it fits in the rear trunk of my F-Type R nicely.
I don't have a spare tire in the back and you can remove the sun shield to get more vertical space if you need it.
The trunk in the Coupes can fit quite a bit.

Its for cooling, and it works well. Water is not a problem, after all if you drive in a rain storm the water blows in past the rad all the time.

These guys are clowns always talking about how useless the powered tailgate is. They only say negative things when they don't have it. That simple push of a button is very convenient when your hands are full. I have it & IMO it's one damn good option. I have also gone to Costco & bought more than I expected & everything fit just fine. I've also gone on a wknd trip with wifey, had two bags of clothes & came back with a few bottles of wine.

Its one option I would order if I had it to do over again.

+1

I'm tired of hearing how various options are a waste of money. I'm tempted to buy the carbon fiber cover just to spite them and, well, because I can...
