Default VelocityAP/H&R Springs Owners

I was in the works with Eibach springs to make lowering springs for our cars. Eibach is globally known for their suspensions. Given that they are local to me makes its easier to work with them. They'll need a commitment of at least 50 orders to move forward. Pricing would have been around $380-$400.

50 orders seems to be a bit of a tall order so I'm exploring other options.

VelocityAP has a pretty conservative drop but being based in Canada, throw in shipping you end up with a set of near $700 springs. H&R's drop is aggressive with pricing thats much more attractive. But VelocityAP's conservative drop leaves a bit more suspension travel.

Those with H&R, did you guys have to cut your existing bumpstops? Any instances where your suspension bottomed out? Did you measure how much shock travel is left?

No other mods needed to make the h&r springs work. You do lose some suspension travel and the spring rates work better with the higher dampening in dynamic mode.

It wouldn't be worth it to swap springs. The next move would be do move to KW full coilover system.

If you order 50 sets of springs I will sell them to you for $380

We have a 10% discount for forum members on these parts, so your cost is $535.50. Our slightly higher retail price point is due to the fact that these are a progressive rate spring with a tapered coil, which adds some manufacturing cost but vastly improves the ride quality and spring/damper matching. And the best part is, you don't need to don' need to do a bunch of development work, and scare up 50 orders, which is an awful lot of work for you to do to save $100

@Stu:
I'm not questioning VelocityAP's quality, R&D or price for that matter. Jaguar is still very much a niche car brand that most aftermarket companies are not willing to develop parts for not limited to just the F-TYPE. Take the XE for example. A legitimate 3-series fighter but still unknown to the demographic that drives 3 series.

I'd love to work with Rays Engineering (Volk Racing, ProDrive, NISMO) based in Japan who are known to build some of the best forged rims but they require a minimum order of 25 sets to do anything custom and even then, the prices would still be cheaper than HRE. I figured if I can get some of the general tuner heavy hitters like Eibach and Rays Engineering to do something for the Jag line up, then other companies will take notice.

I don't know; maybe its my old Honda mentality kicking...but hey I can wish right?

+1. I love the 1.2-1.5" drop, but the shocks can't keep up with the springs in normal mode. The dynamic shock mode is perfect for the H&Rs and makes for a firm but very comfortable ride. Virtually eliminates the sway that is too pronounced on the OEM suspension.

Thinking about going the Eibach route given the moderate drop and attractive price point.

I have chosen Eibach also for my R. Before installing them I want to enter my 3 usual parking to confirm that I can lower those 20mm. Unbeatable value for money.

I'm still not sure what springs to pick;
VAP:€900 (22mm) to expensive IMO for just springs.
H&R:€330 (30mm) better looks / stance, but will scrape the winddeflector when parking in my underground garage.
Eibach: €260 (15mm/22mm) best price, but not many reviews / people that have them installed. Are they also progressive like H&R and VAP?

15mm spacers:
H&R: €155
Eibach: €155

Don’t worry about scraping the whiskers. In total, they cost $110 and take 15 minutes to replace. Besides, after 3 years of scraping them, mine still don’t need to be replaced (even though I’ve been sitting on a brand new set).

I just pulled the trigger on Eibach. Also, Eibach lowers 15mm in the front and 25mm in the rear.

I have the VAP and the "stance" is really nice, although probably not as nice as the H&R, with the front appearing to sit just a little lower than the rear.
But if the Eibach truly are 15 mm front and 22 mm rear surely that would make the car sit "front high" and look a bit strange?

I think the VAP springs do a good job too, but I also find that the car in stock form is much taller in the rear compared to the front so the Eibach kit should level the car a bit more.

+1. The H&Rs dropped my car 32mm in front and 38mm in back (6mm differential) and the car still has a mild downhill California rake. The 7mm differential on the Eibachs should level the car even more.

Our springs are not €900, they are $595 USD (about €520) for the S and V6 Base models, and $695 (about €608) for the 'R' models. They are not the least expensive product out there, but are more expensive to produce due to the unique tapered rod. This is what produces the *actual* progressive rate. H&R is not a true progressive rate, as their wire thickness is the same throughout the spring, but is actually a dual rate spring (they change the coil spacing.)

We chose to make a product that we knew would cost more but to focus on delivering the absolute best ride quality.

I'm looking forward to the install. Will make sure to post a bunch of pics since Eibach isn't represented as well as VAP and H&R.

Thanks! looking forward to your pic's and driving experience with the Eibachs.
I'll wait for the review of the Eibach's before I buy a set of springs.

i have the same H&R's as Unhingd and we have roughly the same stance, if i was to do it again i would do the VAP springs as i am a tad bit lower then i want to be for "real life driving". im also not super excited about the way it rides, but expected with any lower then stock spring. But it sure does LOOK AMAZING!

I have eibachs. looks amazing. on bumpy highways, the damn tire hits the fender / liner. not cool. strongly considering VAP and taking the lift.

The H&R springs are even lower then the Eibach's, do they also rub against the fender liner?
