Default Voice activation on 2016's

Just figured out how to get voice activated calls and other things on my 2016. Just set up 'Hey Siri' on your iPhone 6. This allows you to access Suri by just saying 'Hey Siri'. Next, plug phone into the USB port. If your phone is synced with the car, just say 'Hey Siri, call 'someone in your phone book'. That's it. Call is made. Probably play songs and look up things too.

You don't have to plug it into the USB port to do that. It works the same way via Bluetooth. I've been doing that on my '14 and on any other car that has Bluetooth.

On songs, no, unless you've already switched the music source to the phone on the car's touch screen first.

My phone needs to be plugged into a power source so the USB port works for that. If a different power source, should work by blue tooth.

Now that I think about it you're right. The "Hey Siri" feature, which is new on IOS 9, requires the phone to be plugged in.

I have been using Siri for years in cars to make phone calls from my address book, but have been just holding the home button down to wake Siri up.

Also, my instructions to Siri go through the car microphone just like a phone call. It will play any music I ask Siri to play.

So if I understand correctly, you can have the sound source on radio, and it will switch the source to your iTunes music via Siri? If so, cool . . . will have to give that a try, although if so, it's probably a new feature on the new '16 infotainment system.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to give this a try.
