What Proactive Maintenance whilst Supercharger is Removed??
Morning all,
My car is a very early V6S (VIN K00696) Hopefully in a few weeks my car will have the Supercharger isolator\snout repair kit fitted as per a Jaguar technical bulletin. To facilitate this the supercharger must be removed. I'm already aware of the lower Y-pipe water outlet issues and an updated part is available (AJ813865) and will be ordering that, but just wondered if there is any value in replacing the upper water outlet or any other parts (hoses etc?) whilst the supercharger is removed to resolve the clunk whilst turning the engine off.
Cheers

Same coolant pipes/tubes, thermostat and coolant pump in both engines with minor variations.
Not cheap to replace them all but cheapish insurance if you intend to keep your F-Type V6 for a few more years yet.

Do you know the MY when the updated hoses were introduced?
Yeah thats the updated lower hose part number. When you get that, the upper hose is replaced also.
Not sure. Not hard to see the difference. Rigth next to the bypass valve on S/C, it will be one separation, not two.

Just wonder if it's worth replacing the top hose.
Thanks for you input guys.
Shopping list is as follows:
C2Z28536 (was AJ813865) – Lower Thermostat and Water Outlet
AJ811350 - O-Ring
AJ813917 – Upper Thermostat & Water Outlet
AJ810551 - Screw
AJ811615 - Screw
AJ813918 - o-ring
AJ814053 – Heater Pipe
I could go crazy and start replacing everything else connected to those (such as C2Z28258), but think this will do as preventative maintenance.
The knock sensor mentioned above is part number JDE40131 (I think),. It's attached to the block so don't think it would require supercharger removal to replace?

Why would you replace the knock sensors if theres nothing wrong with them. Never seen an issue with them unless the vehicle is tuned and its not the sensors that are bad.
As with any sensor, they age and wear, especially considering their location. Like O2 sensors, they may not be to the point of throwing codes yet but they do adversely affect performance as they wear out. And while you've got the supercharger off, why not?
I'd be interested to know how they wear out.
I know that they can be affected by temperature cycles eventually, and if they are on contact with fuel or coolant will eventually fail.
My understanding is that they are simply a ceramic 'microphone' for want of a better definition, and either work or are faulty.
If they were a cheap sensor, it's worth replacing whilst they are accessible, but only for peace of mind.
