I have read this forum thoroughly a couple of times to understand and determine what I can get away with re maximizing my tire width with Oem 20" rims. I have read 315's were technically to wide for the 10.5" rim but it is being successfully done. My question is this: Can I mount a 315 tire on the stock rim and use a 5-10mm spacer and achieve good placement of the rear wheel and not adversely affect the handling of the car?
Unless you move to a 11" wide wheel, the 315s will just not look (or perform) right. If you go with new wheels, then you need to get them with an offset to avoid needing any spacers. Going with a 5mm spacer is not enough thickness to incorporate wheel and hub centricity into the spacer. If you stay with the OEM wheels, a 10mm spacer will put the face of the 315s beyond the outer edge of the fender.
I've read all of the thred. I just purchased 315/30/22 Pirelli PZero for the back of my ftyper. I currently have 21x9 front and 22×11 back. 295/25/22 look really small. I will post when installed.

Oh man... that is a really aggressive fitment. I fear you're gonna have tons of rubbing issues; you've made the tires a full 2 inches bigger than stock, and there just isn't that much room. And that doesn't even begin to discuss tire width/offset issues that could rub on a host of things. Additionally, I hope you drive this vehicle as more of a cruiser, because that wheel/tire combination is going to really reduce the performance of the vehicle in sporty driving.
I dunno, I have 305's on the back of mine so only 10mm narrower, they could easily sit another 10mm to fill out the arches and no rubbing due to an inch or two clearance at the top. And the handling is fantastic, much better than it was with the stock 275's (from memory).
Cheers, I went from the 19" Centrifuge which are 275 on the rear, to 21 inch Vorsteiners that are 305 on the rear. The improvement was staggering (lol). I just pulled out the trusty tape measure and it looks to me as though - even if the rear tyres went out another 10mm so that they ended pretty much under the wheel arch (as they do on the front of my car which is fitted with 265's) you would have a decent inch in travel before you had rubbing, unless it was lowered. And I've never had rubbing on my fronts. Not saying that it isnt possible, but I'd have thought looking unlikely, in fact if I can go up to 315's on my next tyre change I'll give it a go as I like to oversize and save rim damage.
For solomon I'd be more worried about 22 inch wheels, the ride on 21's with decent rubber is beautiful but on 22's maybe bumps in the road will translate through the steering? Looking forward to the result!

Yeah, but its safe to assume you're not running 22" wheels on a 30 series tire... Increase the diameter by 2 inches and clearance/handling is a completely different story.

But where did you measure to? On the f-type, you start rubbing at the 9 o'clock position first in the rear, and that's under compression of the suspension. 17mm spaced out on a 295 tire (stock wheel) will rub, but 15mm out won't. This, combined with the fact that he's added 2" of diameter to the tire, tells me he'll rub bad regardless of suspension setup.
Yes, sorry, I didnt realise that the overall diameter of the wheel and tyre was increased - mine are 305/25/zr21 which I expect is the same overall diameter as stock.
Yep, measured from the (about) 2 oclock position facing the rear on the wheel and tyre as is, then from where it would be if the tyre was 10mm wider assuming that with was all on the outside, which would push it all to about 1 o'clock. Where do you reckon it would rub? Right at the top of the arch?
FWIW - I run Motorsporttech 17mm hubcentrics and +10mm front and back (295/305) on 20'' rims. Standard OEM spring lengths, no issue.
Full disclosure, I did not notice the rubbing until I was fully loaded with people/cargo. You've gotta get into the bump stops for it to rub, but it will rub.

I’m on standard 20” Gyrodynes, 305 rears and 265 fronts , lowered on Eibach springs and 20mm spacers all round, no issues
Wow, that's the widest combination I've heard of. Looks spot-on to my eyes.... any chance of a full frontal or shot of your rear please just to get an idea of width?
