19x8.5 are the smallest you can fit over the larger brakes, this was confirmed to me by my dealership and the rim manufacturer last year when I was checking.

I'd take you up on that if I were just a little bit closer

Hey BNC. I just got an f-type R, 2016, steel brakes (not ceramic) in Langley, BC. The fountain tire guys tell me I need 20" rims. Seems like people on this forum have managed to get 19" wheels on, but it's not clear that it has been confirmed which year/model of 19" rim definitely fits on a 2016 R. Did you finally get it sorted out? I think there are more choices for good winter tires in 19". They may also be cheaper. Thanks for the help.

Ouch is right... but it's either pay it or don't drive it. I prefer door number one.

I intend to save a bunch of money and just swap the tires at the shop twice per year. Same wheels.

I considered that but everyone I spoke with said that it's hard on the tires/rims and you're better off if you keep the car for 5-6 years to have the complete winter set.

should also say that my plan makes more sense for leases...I would probably do what you did in a purchase situation

Default F type R winter tires

[QUOTE=rammer_28;1314751]Braelin out of Quebec has a few choices for the F-Type, you can pick them up on 1010tires for good prices. I put 19x8.5''(5/108 45 63.30) on all 4 corners to drop down to 245 wide. I recommend X-ice or Blizzaks as the Hakkas are hard to come by and if you get a flat in Feb/Mar the inventory is almost guaranteed to be gone.[/QUTE]
You put 19"s 8.5" on all 4 corners on an R?

When I lived in far colder climates, I swore by the Hakkas. Available here: https://simpletire.com/catalog?selec...y=nokian-tires

Coincidentally this is about as much as I paid for my winter beater Subaru Forester with winter tires. It has all wheel drive, lots of clearance that provides lots of winter drive-ability further enhanced by "I don't give a **** about it"-ism. I yet to get stuck, despite on occasion trying to, that thing has LSD in the rear and unprecedented ability to get through anything.

As to winter tires - I really like Michelin X-Ice 3. Where I live it snows and ices a lot, and these tires great for both deep snow and ice.

I use Nokia Hakkapelitta 8 with studs. North Sweden. Probably the best winter tyres you could use

Yes, I went down to the 8.5" on all 4s, put a spacer on the back, this allows me to rotate all 4 corners evenly and let me drop down to 245 wide on the back, the narrower the tire the better in the snow.

you won't need them, but they would look better.
