What's with all the ECU replacements?
During my search for an F-Type, including reviewing many CarFax results, I'm seeing a surprising number of these service entries:
- Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced
- Computer(s) checked

Like you I see little or no reports on this forum of PCM (ECU) or TCM failure/replacement so I don't think it's "a thing" on the F-Type.
My guess is JLR dealership "technicians" hardly ever diagnose the root cause of a problem and fix it, instead they just read codes then fire the parts cannon and the PCM (not sure about the TCM) is a relatively easy part to replace.

Is that built into the touchscreen display unit? Dealer tried to run an update on mine in the SVR last year and bricked it. Needed a new computer screen unit. Fortunately on warranty as I hate to imagine what that costs...
Quite simple - put the tune in, it would trigger a non-oem DTC
This DTC can't be cleared using a SDD or any other diagnostic equipment (even if a stock tune is loaded after a remap), the only official way to get rid of it is to replace a ECM. And in some cases, even if a JLR decides to cover a warranty issue they insists on changing a ECM.

I would say the fact that you don't see a bunch of threads about it means it's not a real issue with the car.
