Default Wheel swap XKR to F-type R

Hi forum,
I found a 2016 F-type R I like and am getting ready to pull the trigger. More than likely I'll pick her up next weekend. Quick question. I have custom rims on my 2010 XKR, which I plan to trade in. Is the bolt pattern the same for the F-type r? I'd like to keep my custom wheels if possible. One thing to note, I have 305/30/ZR20's in the rear...Michelin pilot super sport tires. Hoping they will fit, will they? Thanks forum.

Bolt pattern is the same and the 305's will fit no worries (several F-Type owners here running 305's), the only potential problem is offset. I think the stock F-Type 20" rear wheel offset is somewhere around +35 but I don't know the stock 20" wheel offset for an XKR let alone what it is on your custom wheels, all I know is the stock XFR 20" rear wheel offset is +66 so a yuuuuuge difference to the F-Type set up.

Offset depends on the wheel width, do you know how wide they are?

A 10.5" rear wheel needs a 28mm offset to be flush at the top of the wheel well. A 9" front width needs a 42mm offset.

Jim is correct regarding the minimum offset for the 10.5" rear wheel and 305 tires. Assuming the 66mm XFR wheel offset that Oz offered, you could use 30mm or 35mm wheel adaptors to move the wheel face out to where it's needed.

Best to give us full specs on your custom wheels (font and rear) and we can tell you what's possible almost down to the mm based on the combined experience of the Forum Collective. Prepare to be assimilated...

One thing I did wrong was order a set of rears with 7mm more offset than I really wanted. My logic was, I'm going to need an 8mm spacer with the 35mm offset anyway, so I might as well use a stronger 15mm bolt-on spacer with a 42mm offset. I think that was a mistake, because although a 15mm spacer is meatier at the bolt interface, I might have had 7mm more concavity at the spokes.

I'm happy with the concavity of mine, especially compared to the mostly flat-spoke OEM Cyclones, but more rear spoke concavity usually looks the most exotic to my eye.

It depepends on the wheel too, the manfacturer might have one CNC pattern and just increase hub thickness like an integrated spacer to reduce offset, instead of push the rim out from the hub.

Compare the above rear spoke concavity to...

I hadn't considered this benefit of putting on narrower width wheels than OEM. Not to be confused with narrower tires, my current 305s are still wider than OEM.

Dosnt give rear wheel size, but my fronts are the 255/35/20 9j rim, rear with 295/30/20 is a 10.5 rim, think you might have a 11.5 rear rim if it has a 305 tire

I looked up the same page and it is useless for this purpose as it only shows the front wheel and tyre specs, and even then it is showing the "base" XK spec and not the XKR spec which I am 99% sure has wider wheels and tyres than the base XK.

I have done some trawling through the interwebz looking for used XKR rear wheels.
Most are Senta or Nevis 9.5 x 20, but the offsets are all over the shop, from -23 to -26 to -46.
This seems to confirm what I remembered, that the XKR rear wheel offsets are a lot less than the XFR offsets (-66), and they are somewhere in the ball park of stock F-Type 20" rear offsets. But the 1 inch difference in width also needs to be allowed for (9.5" vs 10.5").
Of course all this could be meaningless as the OP has after-market wheels anyway so we still need to hear from him the exact specs of his rear wheels - width and offset - before we can be sure they will fit an F-Type R.

Question regarding 305 rear tire; are you running 305's on the OEM 20"/10.5 wheel?
