This youtuber is probably the best one I have seen regarding depreciation of F Types and other sports cars.

Car gurus has a pretty neat price tracker. Below you can see the price trends by year, 90, 30, for F-Types. I would imagine the sample size of sales is so small that a couple of lowball sales, or overpriced sales, would skew the overall for that year. Unfortunately they don’t break the cars into the sub models of V8, V6, etc. The overall index for all used cars is at the top. Some F types track better or worse than average.

Pickups and SUVs remain hot.

Cargurus price trends are based on sale listings not actual sale figures so the average would be a little harder to skew.

I should have used the term "listings" vs "sales" in my post.

I would image that actual average sales prices would be even lower - if negotiated, (excluding tax, tag, etc) Still some insight into trends . . .

Not really, many dealers list for serval thousands under market value and include wordings like "exclude down payment of xxxx and fees of xxxx".

Used cars in general went up for awhile in Kelley BB. Shortage of new cars was explanation. No new no trades.

I think the bottom floor will be 10-15k for higher mileage and low miles 20-25k for earlier models of the v6s and v8s. The v6 model I think 7-10k for higher mileage and 15-20k for lower mileage.

I’m really curious to see what the impact of ICE going away will be, or v8s going away…At least for a period of time there will be people who want them, and they could become somewhat scarce due to people wanting to hold onto them and enjoy them. It will be interesting, but the collapse of ICE is not feeling as imminent these days in the current political climate.

Here in Canada it does not seem that expensive sports cars lose value as quick as some other markets. There are just fewer available up here, and that keeps the prices up a bit I think. As an example, Maserati MC20s depreciate huge in the US, but in Canada the values don’t seem to drop at the same insane rate. Just different markets.

Although I watch values a bit, it is definitely not something I put much of a focus on. To me the important thing is to make sure you buy the car that really rings your bell…One that will deliver an emotional return on your “investment”. I really believe that worrying about car values can be an exercise in futility that has the great opportunity to detract from one’s enjoyment of their vehicle if they let it.

The only time it makes sense to really emphasize depreciation is if you have the wallet to buy true investment vehicles that are almost guaranteed to go up in value, but the reality is that very few people are in that position. I know I’m not. For the average person I suspect that it is more important to make sure you’ve done everything else right (I.e.: Equity in your home, kids education paid, retirement squared away, etc.) before “wasting” money on a depreciating asset like a typical luxury sports car that mere mortals can buy. As long as you’ve done that then there’s probably no reason to pull your hair out over values etc…

I suspect, more often than not, that the ones worrying heavily about losing money on a car never had it to lose in the first place, and that they probably should not be owning the car they own relative to their overall financial picture anyway. I really think that is often the case.

On the day that you see my car listed in the Classifieds section, you'll know the bottom is in.

At this point these are highly depreciated used cars. I think they are a pretty good buy used as long as you know a good indy. The last couple model years sales fell off a cliff, indicating the demand for these or 2 seater in general, maybe Corvette as the exception as they appeal to a very wide audience.

Looking at the Miata, every time they do a facelift the sales go up and seeing as how Jag did it once in 10 years. I can easily see why we are in 2025 and jag is still trying to sell 2024 f-types.

I’m of the opinion they’re good value for money even new when comparing the combination of things these F-types offer compared to some other options that can be more expensive. Depreciation aside. But I’m super biased ;-0

Seriously, what else on the market offers the looks/design/vibe and power of an F-type without costing far more? It’s not like some of these Mercedes products are any better for depreciation or reliability for instance. If anything the F-type is probably more reliable.

I see a lot of them sitting here in Canada as well. There are 2 at the dealership I bought mine at that have been there basically since I purchased 1.5 years ago.
