Who has ordered the 6 speed?
But I made a joke about liking the color of the badge, and he said "Oh, we'll put one on for you, no problem".
It makes me think that badge goofs and purposeful augments will make me quite skeptical of other Jags on the road.
I know this car will cause a lot of attention, but I hadn't banked on that.... I just wanted to drive the best car available. =)
I AM SO EXCITED. 7th Sept target arrival for me. Exteriors are BRG (so, so dark) w/ Tan convertible top. Pick it up from the dealership and head up to Sonoma or Healdsburg IMMEDIATELY WHoooo.
BTW, I packed the convertible boot with a 3 days worth of his and hers vacation stuff, and there was still room left. It's deceptively small, and it *IS* small.... but it will do the job.
While I don't care at all if someone "badges-up" their car themselves (as anyone who knows enough to look for a badge will also know enough to quickly realize that it is just a badge stuck on, and the other 90% of people will never notice or care), but it does bother me that the dealerships are offering to "badge-up" cars for customers.
Not because I feel it devalues my or anyone else's car, but it puts the integrity of the dealership (possibly brand) at risk. While everyone here is aware enough to check VINs and are aware of the technical differences between the models and how to spot them, most people are not. This could open the door for speculation that a car could have a badge stuck on and sold as that upper level model. Although unlikely to happen, it still makes me feel uncomfortable.

Yeah, I don't even mind them offering to sell an owner an "S" or "R" badge, but actually installing it on the car at the dealership seems to cross the line for me.
What's the owner to do? If he takes it off, it's no longer "the way it came from the factory," but he risks getting scalded by the "afficionados" for posing.
Well, now we apparently have a confirmed case of the factory doing it with conflicting badges at that, as well as adding an AWD badge to a RWD manual.

However, my bigger concern was with this:
Again, I don't have an issue with owners putting on whatever badges they like, but the dealership offering to do it concerns me.

I prefer it naked... Lot's of people don't know what it is, and nobody can accuse me of putting on fake badges. Just take em off and make people wonder!
That said, I'm going to ask for the proper badge for my car. Whether I install it is an open question.
The long wait since April is finally over! This was the first 6 speed manual my dealer got...he was gaga over it. He told me he pulled in some favors and had it hot loaded from the port to get it to me by July 31. Here are some pictures I took with my cell phone. Really like the dealer emblem...had them mount it on the right to balance the f-type on the left. First impressions are all good.....no first impressions are all great!!! Italian racing red, premium pack, jet black interior, 19" black and diamond turned wheels. Loving it!!!
I can see the motivation for nothing, but you left something. It's either all or nothing in my opinion.
