In short the sound system at low volumes really sucks to listen to dance music.

I took my car to Jaguar and I was told my car has all updates, they said it was on phase 2, they said a phase 3 is coming out anytime now which will update all modules on the car.

I am in the UK by the way.

I am concerned my infotainment system is not the latest update as here in UK they just seem to have phase 1, 2 and a soon to be released 3 and these updates are for all the cars modules.

Is there anyway I can check by myself using the in car infotainment system or the iphone aps what version of the software I am running?
I found instructions via google to get into a screen that showed all sorts of version numbers. It was something like press the top menu bar on the valet screen for 20 seconds. If I can find it I’ll post the actual instruction.

Edit - for UK 16MY
On the source screen select FM radio - it does not work with DAB selected. Then hold the source button for about 20 seconds and the engineering screen appears.

I'm curious. For those who have had the stereo update/fix applied, do you still find there to be a LOT of echo or reverb in all of the surround settings. That's my experience. It especially affects vocals...muddies them. And I can't improve it no matter how much fiddling I do with settings.

I can only speak to my own personal experience to date with a base model 2018 F-Type, but the audio system is light years better than the "premium" option for which I paid $1500 in my 2013 Maserati Ghibli.

no reverb or echo beyond that intended in the recording

A follow-up item for the dealership I guess. Maybe they can re-flash or adjust settings to eliminate the echo I have on surround settings.

It depends on the music. You can fade it forward to reduce the rear surround effects some.

Thanks but no. This is beyond positional adjustment; it just sound off. Especially when coming from another Jag playing the same file/tune (either F-Pace (Meridian as well) or XJL (B&W) as comparisons. In my case, the surround sound or is definitely over processed with exaggerated echo/reverb. It is definitely not correctable by positioning the sound image.

Good thing the car sound so amazing without tunes

Is this fix limited to cars with the Incontrol fitted as my V6S coupe base rattles dreadfully. My current option is to remove the rear panel and insulate the rattling wires so I'm told.

I finally got around to scheduling an appointment with my dealer to apply the software update. I'll report back after Sept. 5.

Maybe something to do with the rear speakers being several feet closer to you in the F than the other models (with no tailoring of the software between models...)

Attempt #1: Fail. They performed a software update for the MMI, but not the service bulletin. To be fair, I did not bring it in with me when I dropped off the car, but I did describe the bulletin. When I went to pick it up, they said that is how it is supposed to sound and that if I heard better, the car I heard had a better stereo. I pointed out that I have the Meridian Surround and they said there is a better system (I don't think there was in 2016...can anyone confirm or deny that) and then I brought up the service bulletin on my phone. I met more resistance. They said something to the effect of "that might not apply to your can. we would have to check the VIN." OK, so check the VIN...

Long story long, I am leaving my car for another day for them to hopefully apply the fix.

Your 2016 F Type R has the 770w Meridian system. The bulletin applies to your car.

+1. It applies specifically to the 2015-2016 coupe (770W). Made a huge difference on mine.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I had the stereo fix applied to my F-Type a year ago at the same dealer and it made a huge difference. There was no issue with applying it and the tech knew exactly what I was talking about. Unfortunately I found out that the tech who worked on my car left to work in another dealership and I guess the talent that they got to replace him isn't quite as good. Let me know if you have any more issues and I can dig up the service records to prove that the fix exists.

Thank you , speedski. It is because of the advice in this forum that I pushed past the dismissal and insisted that they follow through with the fix. I just got an email from the dealer stating that the bulletin that I provided them does in deed apply to my car and that they were incorrect in stating that there was a third, better stereo option for my car.

I'm still a little irked that this process didn't go smoother and hopefully they'll have it done long before rush hour. To be honest, I'm getting excited now!

No problem. You should get a survey after your service and be sure to let Jaguar know about those issues. I would not expect this level of service from a premium automaker. I should mention that I have not had the same issues with that dealer but it is disappointing that others did.
