X pipe installed 3.0
I wanted more sound out of it so I took it in with a plan I know people here have removed the secondary muffler and put 14 inch long pipes in its place but had to much rasp and popping we all know how good the f type sounds stock and I just made it better perfect combination of sound zero and I mean zero cabin drone If your looking to increase the sound and dont want to lose the sound you already love this is for you !!

Magnflow
Tru-x crossover pipe
Part# 642-10791
$99.37
You will also need to make sure your muffler shop has stainless pipe in stock you will only need 12 inches ( 4 three inch pipes to all 4 outles of the x pipe just to make it longer ) last but not least you don't need to cut the frount of the muffler you can unbolt and cut just the back so it's easy to put back it you feel the need someday. It should cost you around $70-$130 labor so don't get ripped off just because you have a F-Type
Hope this helps everyone and I love playing with cars and have made some cool cars very fast so if you need help just let me know I'm here for all of you

I think it makes it sound deeper and you don't lose that f type sound I'm sure you pick up a few hp and the one thing I can say is it smooths out the exhaust sound when you are down shifting less pop and more refined lol it's a must do mod
As far as I'm concerned, if it does what you say in bold above, it's an "avoid at all costs" mod. The OEM popping and crackling is my favorite "audio system."
Sorry guys it still pops lol it's hard to describe a sound it is definitely louder and does not take away from the f-type sound I would say it's as close as you can get to factory but louder is that better lol

Jarsonstoys thanks for the info. I think i'm going to chance it and order it. If I don't like the sound and can always install the resonator back. Still if you get a chance post up a sound clip so we can all hear it. Thanks!
When in on the dyno this week I'll post the sound
Maybe the wrong place to ask, but how much of the poppage takes place in the muffler? I seem to remember some Jaguar literature making it seem like that's where all the magic is, but I've got an old Remus wild label(that took like 4 months to get) I'm dying to try out. I had one on the Cooper, made it sound awesome to the max.
So I need sound clips. 100%.
But I am not a "car" guy. Explain, like a dummy:
a) why would you even think to install an X-pipe. Is it about sound, efficiency, performance or all of it?
b) *how* does an x-pipe increase performance, and HP? Is it that it is exchanging the exhaust faster, letting more action happen up stream?
c) Also... because I love the popping and crackling, sometimes in normal traffic I am revving into 4K from 3K, instead of a normal upshift into less RPM. The only thing I ever worry about is when that growl/purr goes to what seems to be a higher pitched, annoyed whine. Will an X-pipe effect the sound of that whine?
Down from 3 to 2 at a grade approx 28 down to 23 mph, I feel like I making delicious popcorn. I love it. It's growling and purring and it's my favorite thing ever.

Despite it being mainly about the small block Chevy motor, this page is one of the best explanations I have come across about the benefits of an X or H pipe and the differences between them: X-pipes and H-pipes Add Easy Horsepower
On my car the XKR-S tune I had put on wouldn't work or "stick" until I put an H-pipe in the system, the ECU kept reverting to a fail-safe power-killing super-rich tune.
All the "R-S" versions of the Jag 5.0 SC cars have an X-pipe in the system from the factory, eg XKR-S and XFR-S, and the same with the F-Type R.
I went with an H-pipe instead of an X-pipe on the advice of my exhaust specialist, and also because it is supposed to give a more mellow and refined exhaust note than an X-pipe.
Funny thing is, with all this talk of exhaust crackles, pops and bangs, my XFR does a fair bit of this anyway without any fancy F-Type style raw fuel injection tricks. It did it a little with the stock rear mufflers and a lot more with the current hi-flo straight through mufflers. It does it all the time on the over-run or when I'm being a bit naughty with Dynamic and S mode.
I heard the popping sound from the exhaust comes from the vehicle shooting fuel into the exhaust system. Does anyone know if this is true?
Comes from introducing an excessively rich mixture into the combustion chamber on decel and the unburned fuel is then ignited by the hot exhaust system after it passes through the engine. No fuel injectors on the exhaust system. Now, if you want flamethrower pipes...
I love how it sounds, so I am patient.... unless we could use a shape memory alloy to switch between the two. Yes I know they don't work like that. =)
I know this may be sacrilege but I'm curious to know if it actually reduces the popping.... while I do love it, I feel it is a bit much for my taste... if I had a way to reduce it by 50%, it would be perfect for me.
