Default You guys have backup camera problems?

Finding that more times than not that the backup camera will not work putting the car in reverse for the first time during the run cycle. Later on in the day it may work but not when I first turn on the car, the sensors work but the screen is dark. Has anyone experienced this?

I have had that issue once. I drove it straight to the dealer to show them. The tech came out to look at it, commented he had never see or heard of the issue, shut the car off and restarted. Of course it worked fine. Has not done it since.

Please let us know what the fix was after your service team addresses the problem.

I find the beating for reverse OK. But agree the front sensors go crazy. Just driving out of my garage all I hear is beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep. The front sensors did save me once when the front parking curb was unusually high and I would have ran it over.

Car sat for two days, they saw the camera act up when the car was started then it would usually work later on, they tested it on their computer and no errors or fault codes came out. Gave me the answer of "just give it time in the morning for the technology to warm up". I explained to the service rep that this answer was not acceptable in my opinion and that should this problem continue then I want a new camera/wiring harness to be done on it.

Check the Lemon Laws for your state. The dealer/manufacturer have an obligation to repair things within a reasonable number of attempts.

I'd rather not lemon law the car but if it keeps acting up then I am concerned that there is a problem with the electrical harness or computer and I have every right for the camera to work 100% of the time and not get an answer that "the technology needs to warm up"

Agreed that is not an acceptable answer! Just be persistent.

Took it back to the dealer, this is not an "intermittent problem" that needs the technology to warm up, not pleased with it and want it fixed or replaced

Yes, I have - and my dealer diagnosed it as a known problem which could be fixed by a software update. My dealer had one or two issues getting the updated software from Jaguar, but when they did it fixed the issue. The problem hasn't reoccurred since the updated software was installed.

Here's a link to my thread describing the issue and resolution.

they replaced the entire screen unit from another new jaguar on the lot as they did not have a screen in stock and would take forever to get one. Apparently that did the trick as these screens have some kind of module and mine was acting up
