Default Tech File Download Milestone.

A little history; back in the summer of 2010 we were having a discussion about what we could do with all the Tech files, Manuals, Guides, and what have you that we held, but were too large to upload directly to the Forum How To sections.

It seemed a shame that the only way that these were available to members was generally via direct email. Hardly of great benefit to enthusiasts.

And so we decided to explore other avenues.

As a result in October 2010 we created a Mediafire account with the aim of adding the files and then linking back through the How To sections.

We started off with a few files all lumped together in one directory.

A call went out to all the 'Mods', 'Techs' and 'Technically Minded/Experienced' members that if they had any stored Jaguar related Technical documents that they thought would be useful to people then would they please submit them for addition.

This was taken up with great success.

We then decided to formalize a directory structure based on the Forum Model sections with sub-directories for Tech Guides, TSBs, General, DTCs and DIY files.

Since then, we now have almost 1000 files for the various models.

And this weekend a staggering milestone of 100,196 downloads was reached.

Not bad for less than two years!

This download section continues to grow, and we are always on the lookout for 'new' or 'abstract' Jaguar related technical files.

So please, if you have that Gem that you think would be of interest to enthusiasts why not either send it into myself/any of the Mods or provide a link from where it can be downloaded, together with details of the author if it was not yourself.

The Downloads are FREE to all enthusiasts and can be accessed by anyone.

Here on the forum we have this thread; Jaguar Forums, File Download Area, Folder Index and HOW TO links.

And also this can be accessed through the Download link in my signature.

A big thank you to all the Mods, past and present and to the Tech guys/enthusiasts for helping to make this a success.

More files are always being added (found a few I had forgotten about on an old Laptop) so please check your model sections for any updates.

Thanks Guys.

Richard, thanks for a very well written and accurate breakdown of the Mediafire account, how and why it was started and credits to the relevant helpful parties.

The mediafire account has been simply put "Awesome" and helped many many members to date, and no doubt will continue to do so for some time to come.

You have however, forgot one person who has worked on this more than anyone else and made this what it is today.

That would be yourself of course.

Take a bow Richard, for without you it wouldn't be what it is today.

Thanks on behalf of all and looking forward to the next milestone.

The jaguar archives, a project that has evolved very quickly. Richard, you've done a great job of keeping that info from becoming a pile of disorganized files, headed on a potential path of disarray and confusion. In its current form, the value is staggering. You've landed into your calling as head librarian of jaguar forums. :-)

Bob you are more than welcome, your contributions esp' in the area of tech and TSBs have been and continue to be invaluable.

LOL Matt, high praise indeed (XK8 FAQ your's) + here certainly a joint effort.

PS, do Ya think they would give me a 'paying' job in the archives...?

The first post in the X Type Archive is "New X Type Commercial" from 22/03/2005

And S Type, "When do I get a Tune Up" from 16/04/2005

Aside, thanks again to all who have contributed to this information source.

Your contributions are what makes it happen.
