2002 seat back adjustment not working?
The seat back tilt is not working but all the other adjustments are. Could this be the control module under the seat or would it be a bad electric motor or switch? Or is it any of those? Any help is appreciated.
KWinn, to diagose this, you are going to need to access the seat module under the seat. From there, you will need to find either a brown wire with a red stripe or a green wire with a white stripe (they will be side by side at the module going into pins 15 and 16.). You are then going to use a multimeter to measure from one of these wires to chassis ground. As you move the switch to lean the seat forwards/backwards, you should see the multimeter periodically jump from 0 to 12 VDC. The red/green wire is for making the seat be more upright and the greeen/white wire is for laying the seat back. If you do not see this voltage, your switch pack is bad.
Assuming you had voltage during the previous check, now you are going to find the brown wire with a green stripe and the green wire with an orange stripe (pins 1 and 2 of the same connector). Connect your multimeter between these 2 wires. As you flip the switch back and forth, you should see your multimeter jump from 0 to +/-12 VDC back to 0 as you move the switch through its positions. If you see the voltage, then your seat motor is toast (may be wiring, but unlikely). If you do not see voltage, then your seat module is toast.

Tomorrow I am going to the interior generalist to fix the same problem. His relative, an electrician , is going to do the work.
The shop owner believes it is the door swtich.
I will copy Thermos answer and take it along.
Mentioned was a good dose of electrical contact cleaner , maybe what is needed.

sony2000, I might believe the contact cleaner on the switch if the switch worked some times or had 1 direction that it seemed to work but not the other. But, when a switch goes does like this, the probabilities shift to other things.
