2005 Jaguar X-Type X400 3.0L SportWagon EVAP error codes
2005 Jaguar X-Type X400 3.0L SportWagon
VIN : SAJWA54A55WE15683
EVAP error codes
How do you fix this problem ?
Permanent P0442 EVAP System Leak Detected - small 0.040 in
Permanent P0456 EVAP System Leak Detected - very small 0.020 in
Permanent P0430 Catalytic Converter System efficiency below threshold - Bank 2
Repairs
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) checked and verified that the Canister is OK.
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) removed the Gas Tank and Replaced ( supposedly ) the Solenoid Valve.
Mechanics have ( supposedly ) checked and Cleaned the Check valve on the throat of the gas Tank and "cleaned" the sealing surface. They claimed that it was "sticky" from "gunk" built up on it.
The Check Engine Light is still on, Steady.
I can NOT put gas in the tank without the pump constantly clicking Off. I can only get 1/4, 1/8, 1/10, 1/20 or 1/100 of a Gallon of gas into the tank at a time. It takes me 20 minutes to fill up with 18 gallons of gas.

David, are you one of these people that likes to fill the tank all the way up (ie, run the pump till it clicks off, then adds another half gallon or so)? Then odds are, your problem is the solenoid valves inside the engine bay. If you open up the hood/bonnet of your car and then look to the right side of the intake, you will see a hole there where you can look down at the back exhaust manifold. At the top of this hole, you are going to see 2 vacuum lines come up to 2 solenoid valves. You are going to want to remove those solenoid valves and squirt them out good with some carb cleaner. Reinstall the solenoids and see what you have then.

I just bought the 2005 April, 2023. It had the Error codes and I was told it was EVAP. So, pre-existing condition.
I don't know if the mechanics actually did what they said - ergo, "supposedly".
I really love this little car. I havebeen having SO much fun with it ! I had never heard of "Jaguar" "Station Wagon" until 2 days before I bought it. It was Showroom quality when I bought it. 135000 miles on it.
Unfortunately I just wrecked it. Front Driver's side corner. An SUV back corner bumper got it. After I get it fixed I can go back to other problems. Fortunately I found a good source of parts. Any other ideas, anybody ? It did 128 mph at 6500 rpm - with the A/C on ! Stylin' ! ! It has 3 speeds. Fast. Faster, And Rocket Ship ! It actually makes a "growling" sort of sound when you stick your foot up it *** !
