Just wondering if anyone knows the difference between these? And should they be interchangeable?

7F6N is the base audio head unit with the internal amplifier
7G9N is the premium audio head unit for external amplifier
In my experience, they are not interchangeable, i.e. you cannot run an external amp with a base head unit.
