88 braking issues
I have an 88 vanden plas and ive been having brake pressure issues. I installed a new master cylinder, bled it and its better but still not right. Do i need to bleed at the wheels? Someone please help!!!
That system is the worst design on the planet. Basically you have an engine driven pump that pressurizes the hydroboost. The boost energy is stored in the nitrogen ball. When you press the brakes, the stored energy is released to the back side of the master cylinder and helps push the master cylinder. Sometimes, often just with age, the nitrogen ball fails internally and causes problems. The other areas to look out for are the pressure switches that mount where the nitrogen ball is. They fail as well. The ride level system is loosely tied into the hydroboost system and can cause problems, if it hasn't been removed.
Please post what exactly your concern is and we may be able to help so you don't waste a lot of money on parts you don't need. It is a very intricate system with many parts, tubing, servos, fluid going here and fluid going there, etc.
