Air con conversion

Hi all, I have just left my mate who works for kwik fit. Always a good mate on a Sunday when boss not there
. I asked him to top up my air con but he said it has the old type connector. He thinks you can get a conversion "end" to enable it to fit the more modern equipment at the majority of garages. Does anyone know where, and indeed, the correct name of the bits I want?
Many thanks Dave

You didn't identify the MY of your car but I assume you are referring to the R12 type connectors that went out in the early '90s. The newer R134 type connectors are larger.
Converters are available but are usually only used when changing out the system charge to R134. If your friend still has R12 gas in stock he should have the necessary connectors.
You should not mix the gases.
