Default AJV8 Swap into Datsun 240z

Hi all,

I'm undertaking a rather ambitious project to squeeze an AJV8 into a Datsun 240z and pair it up with a manual gearbox.
But before getting too stuck in, I wanted to check a few things to make sure its even remotely possible.

After some research I've found that the main challenge I'll have is with the height of the engine, especially since Jaguar V8s tend to have front sumps, whereas I'll need a rear sump to avoid interference with the steering rack.
I've read that the sump from a Range Rover Sport (part no: 4H23-6706) can be fitted to an AJV8 from a Jag, however unsure on the specific things I need to take into account.
I know I'll need to change the pickup (part no: 4728612) and baffle (part no: 4526550), but is there anything else I need to consider? Will it even free up much space? Is it even possible?

Ideally I would like to put a supercharged engine in, however understand these are significantly taller, so will complicate things further.
If it helps, I've mainly been looking at the AJ27, 2001 onward.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated, thanks.

Ben

Ben, save yourself a lot of unknowns and simply pull the engine from a Rover. The same engine as in the jag with a few modifications which it sounds like you are going to need. They even come supercharged as I recall. Finding a newer V8 is going to be difficult as Jaguar has been moving away from the Ford built engines (which the AJ engine is). So, you may need to look back a number of years to get what you are after. I would say to look at something like CoPart to get a fairly complete chassis that may have been totaled, but the engine and tranny are still good. You can then have a lot of extras that may be helpful like the ECU and whatnot.
