Default automatic transmission fluid

I have a 2004 Jaguar XJ Vanden PLas with134,000 miles; should I change the transmission fluid; a mechanic in town told me it was sealed for life but I think an older transmission would benefit with exchanging old fluid for new; any opinions?

Sealed for death is the other term.

It should be due its 2nd change at least I reckon.

Agreed.
What is the life they refer to, NO ANSWER.

I drop and fill any transmission, dipstick or NO dipstick, every 50k kms, and have had NO trans issues related to fluid.

Fluid be cheap, transmission, not so.

Many opinions, for sure, but I am a loner with my Jags, and worry not.

Thank-you, I agree with preventive steps that are logical and this seems like the right way to proceed. I will do it this weekend!

Roger,

Forgot, it happens sometimes.

SAME goes for Steer Fluid, Brake Fluid, Diff Oil.

All forgotten items until they smack you and your wallet.

Good luck mate.
