Body Control Module - Advice needed, 2009 XF
Backstory - I took my car to Goodyear for a battery and they either crossed the cables or inadvertently touched a cable to metal resulting in my entire car going whacky. Fuses were blown, the center console was flashing, radiator fan and AC fan didn't work. They got everything back to working except the glovebox won't open. I took it to Jaguar on Goodyear's dime, and Jag says the Body Control Module is shot. Luckily only the section that gives power to the glovebox is burnt, so it's driveable and there are no other issues. But, they can only fix the glovebox by replacing the module, part C2Z13686. The problem - the part is discontinued and that part is VIN-specific. This is fascinating to me because I see several places selling them used. If the module can only be programmed if it hasn't been used with another VIN, why are they selling them used?? At any rate, Jag says it can't be fixed!
I could use a little advice to remedy this nightmare. Any suggestions, information, or workarounds, would be much appreciated from the community.

Don't know if this is any help but it has been suggested before?
You will need a working SDD system first. Do you have one?
Then attempt to reprogram the module by telling SDD that it's a new one and see what happens. Some people have reported this works and others say it does not.
Maybe a more experienced SDD guy will post?
One other suggestion is to try one of these module repairing companies. Big risk and no guarantee it will work. I have tried that with a PCM for an older S-Type with no luck. But again others have had modules repaired successfully too?
