Cooling Fan Module for 2001 3.0L (early VIN)
Hi,
New to the forum, but I searched enough to know this is the right place, but I didn't see the answer...
Daughter's 01 Jag S-type has what appears to be a bad control module. I see that is a popular problem (Fan spins with 12v applied, low voltage (1.2v) from the module when turned on/AC on.).
Is there a part # for the adapter cable/new module that I see referenced elsewhere on the forum? Or a link on the forum that will explain my path forward?
Alternatively, anyone have a good module for sale? (either old style, or new style + cable).
Thanks in advance,
Larry

Thanks! DrDome is going to look at his supply, but the part # is XR86419. I'm about to go remove it to confirm, and then decide if I want to take it apart before the replacement arrives!

I got the airbox out of the way, and disconnected the connector to the module, but it's not obvious what is holding the module to the fan shroud. It's nicely enclosed in a plastic shroud... Anyone removed one? Searched online and didn't see any pointers...
Thanks,
Larry

So, this module is a JAGUAR XR838C609AA, GATE 940.0000, HKR System E5004.001.
Uscrewing the backside reveals an unremarkable circuit board marked 721-5004.1g in the copper tracing. Board has 6 1000uF, 35V, 105degree C rated electrolytic capacitors - none of the caps appear damaged, and 5 3 pin devices (presumably MOSFETS, 4 in TO-220 packaging, one larger. They are thermally coupled to the case via spring loaded fingers and dielectric grease.
Sadly nothing looks wrong...

Does the radiator fan run with the ignition in the OFF position after the vehicle has been fully warmed up?
