Default How does cruise control work on a 2008 XK

...specifically does it use the brakes?

Hello...I don't know whether to ask this here or on the XK forum, but here it goes.

This is just for my information, but I want to know if my basic cruise control (not the adaptive one) uses the brakes. For example when going down a hill to keep the car at the set speed.

I live in an area that's pretty flat and it's rather hard to tell for sure.

Thanks...Mark

PS - My every day car (2013 Audi A7) does and the car that I traded in for my 2008 XK (2005 SL500) did as well...it's a nice feature.

Try the right XK forum for confirmation but I expect no braking and probably doesn't even change gearbox down (it might, above some threshold speed like 50mph). It's unfortunate here because they put tax (sorry, speed) cameras on downhill roads sometimes and drivers need to intervene as the cruise control lets the speed rise and rise.
