Default ignition key reprogram for 1999 jaguar xj8 Vaden Plass

Just wondering if anyone has had the problem of ignition keys not working. All of my keys go in turn fine and everything is good till I go to start the car. Two of them do not work one does. I am sure the transponder is not doing its bit so it wont work. Any ideas as I really do not want to go to the dealer 70 miles away and get new keys made. I have one remote that works part time but its the keys I really want to get working. Any ideas and help would be great. Thanks

A little more info might help.
Did the 'inop keys' work before and now don't????
Did you buy the keys and NOT have them configured????
Are they the correct keys with a transponder in them or are they for an earlier car (X300 or XJ40, XJ-S)????

If they are the correct ones then they can be configured with PDU, WDS, IDS etc. by the dealer or someone like me with the proper computer.

I bought the cart a few months ago and the keys are the original key for the car. They work all functions just will not allow the car to start. As far as I know they worked for the other owner at one time but they do not now. If I knew how to configure the keys I would try that, just do not know how that is done and the dealer 70 miles away wants me to purchase new keys. The key works just think the transponder in the key is not doing what it should. If you can help me would be nice.

Well being that you are about 500 miles from me I would suggest a trip to your local dealer for configuring your keys.

I will be glad to do it for a case of beer if you really want to drive to my shop but it would be a real road trip for a simple programming. I'll read and clear all the modules and we can BS for a while.

Someone closer would be more cost effective.

Thanks for the offer. I might be in Dallas the first part of July for one day for a birthday of a aunt. Other than that the guys closer wants me to replace the keys. At least I have one that is working. Oh yes, you confirmed that it does have to be put on the shop computer to get it to reset the programing, wished there was a way to do it since the car is as old as it is. Wonder if any manufacture will ever release the programs for the general public. Fat chance on that I guess. Anyways thanks for the offer and information. Blessings
