I'm in the process of restoring/ upgrading my 88 xjs.
I recently found on eBay a chrome and black leaper side marker that has a wiring harness and bulb attached. I believe it came from a 89 XJ6. The seller said it won't light but believes its a bunt out bulb. Unfortunately he doesn't have the driver/ left side.
My question is: Did they actually make a lit leaper side marker?
All the ones I have found have been opaque black and no bulb housing. I haven't received the one I purchased yet so I'm a bit befuddled.
I would really love to have these lit markers on my Xjs instead of the basic unlit style.

 

I've owned 6 XJ6's all 89-94. I'm in the possession of 2 90 XJ6's now and one 92 XJS. I have never seen nor heard of a lit side marker. I have rewired 3 of these as well and have never seen a, "what's this wire go to either." Hope that helps.

 

Since you've already won the auction, there's no worries of someone coming in and sniping it. Can you provide a link to the ended auction? If it has pictures of the item, I'd like to take a look at it

It doesn't have a bulb, only the wiring and plug for it.

My 01 had this on the right side only, it was wired for side markers for the European market.

I know because I swapped my leapers for side markers and the right side was plug and play, but I had to wire up the left side to the turn signal on the front bumper.

I finally received the side badge and yes, everyone was correct, it's a dummy marker. Simply used to secure the unused marker wiring.
I've actually changed direction and installed the small marker lights in front of front wheels and used the gold back and chrome leaper badges on the front wings. As well as gold bonnet badge and gold wheel centers.
