Wiring led lights on negative switched cars
Hi all
Have just created a new schematic drawing for anyone planning to install aftermarket led lights to neg switched jaguar.
My question is, will this setup interfere with the canbus system on jags?
I have not tested this, so don't try this at home
The only time there will be a current draw is when the sidelights are off so i think it won't interfere at all.
Any suggestions appreciated.

gullius, you wire everything up just like most other cars. The big difference is that the power is interrupted on the ground side vice the power side. The only reason why automotive manufacturers tend to interrupt the positive side is that doing things this way puts all wires at the same potential. Where, in theory, with a negative interrupt car, you have power on all the wires at all times and if you happen to hit the positive post with anything, you would then create a short, leading to arcs and whatnot. But, in reality, it is just as likely for you to touch the positive of the battery and cause the same thing.
Just remember which wire has power and which side is the return and it all wires up the same.

yeah i agree with your technical comments thermo.
I came up with the diagram because my aftermarket drl's require a positive switched connection to turn the lights off (orange cable) when sidelight/dip beam operates. This is common on all aftermarket drl's in the uk.
As both wires to side lights are live, i wasn't able to do a standard install using the orange wire to the supplied DRL relay that comes with the kit, That's why i thought of adding the additional relay.... if you know what i mean?
Unless you know of another way using just the DRL relay?
Thanks appreciated

Daytime running lights fitted and tested on xf
Managed to finish fitting the daytime running lights and lenses to the xf the other day. Have now tested the electrics & light throw from lamps, all looks superb & gives the car a new look. Saved a fortune not buying the main dealer ones in the chrome blade, so job well done!

Thanks momo,
I used Ring drl's (model brl0397 x4) & fitted reflectors in the original grilles.
Then hand crafted the lenses to fit in the grille.
I have done 3 xf's now & might post up a tutorial.
You can see a quick video on youtube here.. JAGUAR XF LIGHTS DAYTIME RUNNING LED MOD - YouTube
Worth it if you want a really unique look or have too much time on your hands

I can post a close up video of the install if that helps. You will need good diy skills if you want to do it yourself.
geting me to do it will be costly. I now use a pair of philips drl 8 for the lights £80-100 and finish of the grille with hand crafted fully dressed mesh inserts. £65.00.
This doesnt include labour costs for install. So quite expensive unless you have the skills to diy. :-)

I found them cheap on ebay. They are as close to oem quality. Search for philips drl 8.
Will try and post video after new year. Happy xmas n new year!

DRL Mod
Looking forward to seeing th "How To". Have looked at the adamesh kit and just dont think that they will look very bright.
Also, curious. Do you have anything inline to keep the voltage constant so that the LEDs don't burn out?
I had a big problem with LEDs burning out when I installed them as license plate bulbs.
