Default Little help please? Spec needed

I'm researching alot of other stuff right now, and haven't found a piece of data I need. Can you help?

What is the weight of the Jaguar 5.0L V8 engine? N/A or S/C will do, rough guesses will not. Thanks!!

Not the answer, but maybe something to help your search.
Jaguar AJ-V8 engine

"The AJ-V8 is available in displacements ranging from 3.2 L to 5.0 L, and a supercharged version is also produced. Ford Motor Company used this small V8 in other products as well, including the Lincoln LS the 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird as well as in several Land Rovers."

Possibly finding shipping weights for these engines will be easier.

RCB,

Been there, but thanks for the suggestion. Shipping data will be hard to find, as the issue has not likely come up often since the introduction of this engine. Good idea, though. Thanks!

Hi JagtechOhio,

Got this from my local Jaguar dealer:

Mike,

I received your email about the weight of the 5.0L engine. I called our parts help line and they told me that the engine weighs 270k with packaging. That roughly translates to about 596 pounds including packaging. If you have any further questions feel free to give us a call or email me here.

Thanks
Jaguar Land Rover Chantilly

Not sure how much the packaging weighs but probably comparable to a 4.0 or 4.2 engine. Good luck with your project.

Mike

Well according to PM it is 4% lighter than the Gen II 4.2 liter engine. If you happen to know the weight of those engines.

Thanks guys,

Mike, ugh, that's a freakin' stone. Even if the crate weighs 150 lbs, you're still left with...a crate.

I was hoping to hear that it was within 100 lbs of a certain Honda engine I've been reading about. Thanks for taking the time to do the research, I appreciate it.

If anyone has more info, please bring it on!

Hi JagtechOhio,

Jag engines aren't the lightest things in the world. Does the application you are thinking of require a stock block? If not, could you use an aluminum racing engine? There are a bunch of racing engines available, but most seem to be oriented towards drag racing.
