I want to post here my experience with this tool. The one I have used the genuine one and will not comment anything regarding the clones. They are extremely cheap but even software is kind of different and should pay more attention to them. Probably they will work.
The genuine one will not scan M-Bus at all. I've found references others having same issue. So it is not the best for all-around scanning. But for this I use an Autel MaxiAP200 which is 50$ with one free forever license which in my case was Jaguar.
Other thing to note is that I successfully done few CFF updates for Premium Audio, ACC, 10" screen upgrade which involves also InControl Variant which takes actually a little bit more time than the CFF itself. All safe and using lates driver (filename openport2_setup_1024820.exe)
Not so good behavior with latest for now driver was the camera module firmware update (for the same 10" screen upgrade I wanted to do to get the fresh UI). On this, out of maybe 10 retries, there was an issue with the drivers I guess that was every time after 18-20min of copying the firmware to the module, failing. There was notifications of dongle disconnects and a loop for connect-disconnect and the only way to solve was a laptop reboot. Only once it finished. Because I was trying to find the correct firmware, I had to redo once again and I have discovered later that I can use an older driver with no issues for this task openport2_setup_1024791.exe . I haven't checked after if CCF still works, I can guess so.
Another observation is that the file upload to the car (called "download") will take much less time, less than half of the time estimated by SDD. Maybe the estimation was based on a benchmark only with some other dongle and car which were slower.
So the conclusion, the dongle works but it needs some attention. Who has one or wants to buy one, hopefully will find this here and be helpful enough.
I used this dongle because for me VCX SE PRO was giving the connected-disconnected as soon as it was connected to the car. Maybe also a driver/firmware issue but didn't want to risk with that in any way. And DA-Dongle costs double and the shipping almost half of the OpenPort price which is insane.
By the way, Tactrix support didn't support me as of now at all. I got confirmation of ticket being registered, by some automatic process, but no feedback ever since. All these discoveries were based on my luck and hard findings. This is thing to note, maybe the support is really bad these days and if one needs anything, they will be out of luck.
