Default Touchscreen calibration?

My touch screen suddenly stopped responding normally... I'm sure it's related to my GVIF adventures.

Basically, the X axis (horizontal axis) is not registering... So, the audio, climate, phone, navigation, vehicle buttons work, (and anything else that displays along the left edge when in a menu) but nothing else.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

I saw the USB port when disassembling the unit while trying to troubleshoot the issue. Do you have additional information and/or instructions?

I do not have an SDD tool.

My issue was resolved by updating touchscreen module through SDD. There is another method through usb. Send me an email truesownow@gmail.com

Email sent. Thanks Alex.

If it's appropriate, I will update this post with what resolved the issue. If it involves proprietary software, folks will just have to be aware that a potential solution exists and I'll provide guidance on how to figure it out for themselves.

I will update with my results, regardless.

Received the firmware file from Alex, and attempted to re-flash the board via the USB port at the top of the screen assembly. No luck.

Instructions were as follows:

Unzip the files and place everything in the root directory of the USB memory stick
Leave the car off and battery connected for the entire re-flash procedure
Remove the silver tape in the top center of the touchscreen assembly.
Leave everything on the head unit connected, just tilt the center unit forward so you can access the top.
Plug in the USB stick using a transfer cable or USB adapter
It should begin flashing within 30 seconds and is over in about 2 minutes.

I tried a few different ways that this could be interpreted... doors open, doors closed, USB inserted before the screen turns on the splash logo, during the splash logo popup, before tapping the ignition button, after tapping the ignition button (car remaining off, just turning on accessories to power the touch assembly). No difference. The screen would sit at the splash logo with no change for well over 10 minutes each time. No indication that anything was happening in the background, and when I started the car after every attempt to go into the menus, it behaved the same as before.

I'm not sure if anyone else has tried this with success, but I think I'll just save my unit for extra parts and replace it.

Make sure you have a tried and true transfer cable and unlocked USB. I've done this on my car. One transfer cable I had didn't work, even though it was sold as a transfer cable. One USB drive I had wouldn't write so it didn't work either. Bought a new transfer cable and put the files on a different thumb drive. Rudimentary I know. But it worked.

I think the only thing I did different than you, and this was too long ago for me to remember exactly, is I had left the keys in the house, no splash screen showing when I plugged it in.

What storage format was your USB stick in?

FAT
FAT32
exFAT
NTFS

This could have an impact on things. The transfer device I have should work fine. I cannot image why it wouldn't... It directly converts USB A to USB mini.

Hmm... yes, my drive is indeed FAT32. Did not try FAT16, but they are compatible. FAT32 makes more sense given the vehicle year.

Yep I hear ya but as I think about it, GVIF was already antiquated tech in 06 when Jaguar started using it. So I used Mini USB Male to USB 2.0 Female Host OTG Adapter Cable and a 512MB FAT16 USB.

OTG is critical of course.
