Default XJ8 10 position seat

I have always been able to find my answer online without actually joining a thread, so I apologize if I'm not in the right spot to post this.

I purchased a pair of 10 way power seats from a 2004 xj8 to put into a 1969 mustang. I am trying to power these up to move and the only thing I can get to work so far is the lumbar. I am thinking that there is some kind of safety that needs to be jumped that I am missing.

I have power to the main feed Brown/green and Brown/red as well as to the brown/green to the module

I have ground to the 2 Black wires at the main connector, and ground to the Black/pink going to the module.

If I check at the switch on the side of the seat, I have power at all the brown wires with a colored stripe, and I have ground at all of the black wires with or without a stripe. The seat wont move and does not make a sound, what am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom

A while back I purchased bucket seats from a Jag at a swap meet. I'm currently putting a 1936 Chevy body onto an Chevy S10 frame and drive train and want to use the Jag seats. I don't know what model or year the seats are from so I'm having a hard time finding a wiring diagram so I can hook them up. I'm attaching photos in the hope someone can identify them and tell me where to get a wiring diagramPower seat wiring to make it work Outside the car?-jag-seat-003.jpg

crowbait, if you look on the bottom of the seat, you should see a part number and the beginning of it should be something along the lines of "1X43" or some other combination there of. With that 4 character combo, we can give you an idea of what vehicle and year vehicle it came out of.

Looking at it, it somewhat looks like a seat from out of an X-Type, just missing the head rest.

The only tag I see on the seat frame is 4X43F14B709AA/5C421637 AB/5115190 43.

Does that look like it?

crowbait, yes, that is the number that I was after. The "4x43" part of the number tells me that the seats are out of a 2004-2009 X-Type. If you want the seat drawings, send me a PM and I will send you the applicable drawings so you can know what pins to apply power to so the whole seat will work.

Thanks Thermo, You'll have to excuse my ignorance but I'm not familiar with "PM". I'll be glad to send it to you if you can tell me what that is.

crowbait, PM = Private Message. If you click my name, it should toss up a pop up window with the 2nd option being to send me a private message. Send me a PM with your addy and I will send you the diagrams you need.

Thermo, I have had no luck getting to your PM. I found a link for 2004 X type wiring diagram on the thread and I downloaded that. I appreciate your help and if I still have problems, I'll contact you again. Thanks.

crowbait, not a problem. Let me know if you have any questions. I know the X-Type all too well.

Not what you want to hear, but I took a motor off and couldn't find anyone that could make it move, they all have four wires as opposed to the 2 most motors have. I purchased a second passenger seat and switched all the motors and wiring. It cost me another $150 but I love the seats and solved the problem.

Default Jag seats

After reviewing the above instructions, and looking at the schematic. I figured it out. The wires were different colors and the plugs were numbered differently, I worked it out and they are working as advertised. Thank you.

Cheers , Jim

Hi,

Could any one help me to find the electric wiring diagrams for the front seats of a 2012 XJR ?
Bought a complete set I would like to use as an office seat.

Thanks a lot !

marcrv7, your best bet would be to go to a website like ALLDATA - OEM Auto Repair Information for Professionals and get a 1 year subscription to that for the 2012 XJR. That will give you access to the wiring diagrams and allow you to do what you are after. Your other option is to go to a website like Topix (Jaguar based site) and get a subscription through them. But, this will also cost you a lot more for the same information.

Welcome to the forum Josh,

As a newbie, you can't download the 1999 XJ Series Electrical Guide from the forum until you hit the minimum 10 post count and 5 day membership period.

However, I've put the Electrical Guide on my MediaFire account and you can download it free from this link:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/ugqfg7...ical_Guide.pdf

The seat schematics are in Section 12.

I've downloaded mediafire now how do I get the electrical guide to open? The wires were cut from the car, all motors and connectors are still in place and have eight wires???

It's a PDF. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar to open it.

Adobe Reader Install for all versions

Make sure to uncheck the McAfee Security Scan Plus install unless you really want that installed with the free reader.
